    Aquilani - 'I Owe Liverpool'

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani insists he wants to remain at the club to make amends for his injury-ravaged season.

Aquilani made a £20million switch from Roma last summer but did not feature until late October because of an ankle problem sustained while on duty with the Italian club.

The 25-year-old was restricted to just 13 starts in his first season at Anfield, although he did feature in the final four matches of the campaign as Rafa Benitez's side finished seventh in the Premier League.

That led to speculation the Italian was on course to make a swift return to his native country in the close season, with Juventus said to be interested in a deal.

But Aquilani has scotched such rumours and insisted he wanted to remain on Merseyside to prove his worth in the English top flight.

He told Italian newspaper Leggo: "I am staying at Liverpool to make up for many things. I have finally recovered from my ankle injury.

"Juve have approached me in the past and now I'm reading of their interest, but I really don't know anything about it."

I hope he stays. I see a quality player in him. A player that is too good for the English league in terms of vision and link up play.

I just hope we somehow get back the 'team spirit' we showed last season and start playing good football.

He can be ACE next season. Imagine a midfield of Masch-Aquilani-Gerrard with Torres upfront and Maxi on the right with another good left winger(pacy and can cross).

      We would look deadly IMO.

He's had 6 assists this calendar yr in the League, the highest so far.

If Gerrard does one this summer, he'll need to step up big time.

Why not 3 midfield places and 4 midfielders, to be honest we could do with another midfield for 5 challenging for 3 places.

Finally getting over his ankle injury - I like the sound of that. I think he's a class player, I just wonder whether he can do it in the intensity of the premier league.
                            Really?

Its not the ankle that bothers me...... Its the seemingly regular case of the sniffles i worry about.
