Fixture list next season

All the teams have to play each other home and away, what does it matter which order its in ?

Newcastle are ****, the mancs will wipe the floor with them.

I'd rather we had the chance to settle into the season before getting the big games all piling up on us before we're ready.

if we get kenny in as manager *fingers crossed* the boys will be buzzing to get going and what a way to set yourself up for the season than to turn over the arse and citeh for our first two games. the adrenaline and confidence would be pumping.

however, if we started off against a team like west brom and fail to turn them over convicinlgy, then the mood would be one close to failure and the medi bandwagon would start again on our backs.

no team really starts the season fully ready to go out playing their best football and so IMO that makes it a far more level playing field. if we dont get the buys we need during the summer then we'll need to rely heavily on kenny getting the players we already have pumped up. in which case a couple of big games and big victories would get us going.

i'm actually starting to look forward to the new season so long as we get kenny in now. these fixtures , again especially the xmas period ones, are quite nice for us.

It matters enormously. You need a bit of luck with the fixtures, because the timing of when you play certain opponents, can make a big difference.

What use was it that Arsenal played United at the end of 2008-2009, when they had nothing left to play for? On another day, they might've been up for it and beaten the mancs.

Your first paragraph is based on emotion and suchlike, but in reality, it's far harder to beat a top side, than a mediocre one. I'd rather get off to a good start and have some easy games to help us settle and bed in.

I agree with you on the 'level playing field' point, but that's the only positive of that start to the season.

I'm sure United v Newcastle was their opening fixture the season before last, you know, the season which saw United crowned champs and Newcastle relegated. Remind me what the score was again will you?

Newcastle were an established PL side at that point.

If you think today's newcastle will get something at OT, that's obviously upto you, but i think you need your head looking at

Aye, I know the point you're getting at. I just don't think its as cut and dry as you make out.

I see no reason why Newcastle couldn't take points of United on the opening day. The excitement of getting back into the Premiership, United starting the season lethargic (as per) and who knows.

Still I'd prefer Newcastle at home than Arsenal.

I'm really worried about this as a start particularly with a new manager coming in and the potential for a number of players leaving.

Given the poor start we had last season knocked our confidence, it's important that we hit the ground running!!

i would rather lose to city and the arse and still have the opportunity to get back to winning ways against the "smaller" teams.

right now i wouldnt like to say who we were more likely to beat out of WBA and the arse. going by last years performances neither. but i'd say we werem ore likely to beat the arse or city early season than WBA to be honest.

Very tough schedule for first 2 months. I am not sure if it could got any tougher..I also would have preferred we start the season with some easier games until we settle and gain the momentum. **** it, when it rains it pours. It is what it is so we have to hit the ground running right from the bat.
