The sudden lovin' for Hodgson is a bit surprising to say the least. Here's a man who couldn't really win away from home last season and who's brand of football isn't particularly 'inspiring' and based on an even more rigid defensive template that was used with Rafa. Add to that the fact that he's done 'steady' jobs wherever he went but never won anything.

I'd get behind him if I see a definite improvement on the pitch and evidence that we're fighting for the league championship. I'm taking a leaf out of people who said that our current team was 'better' than what we offered last season - we'll see if they were right.

Think about it, those that wanted Rafa gone, have no choice now but to laud our new manager, after telling us we'd attract Maureen, Hiddink and the like, we end up with exactly the type of manger those against Rafa being sacked for the sake of it said we would.

So i don't think many have much choice but to sing Roy's praises.

The more realistic view, imo, is that expectations should be kept at a bare minimum.

And to be honest, i'm done talking Roy now, although i'm very down on the appointment it feels wrong to have such little faith in the Liverpool manager, so i'm just going to stop talking about him.

I would think the difference is mainly that previously the discussion was about Fulham's manager and now it is about the Liverpool manager.

It's no rocket science Dom. Steadying a struggling football team with the emphasis on making them solid based on defensive rigidity isn't that difficult. Making a team into title winners is a different proposition altogether and will require much more from him.

He hasn't demonstrated the latter in any of his previous jobs. He hasn't been appointed to win things. Improving from last season is the main aim and what the owners are banking on to 'satisfy' the supporters. Rafa was demanding that more money was ploughed in to allow him to compete at the top, which they wouldn't give him. Hodgson's appointment will change that.

I'm no fan of the current state of football and the way LFC is being run. I'm a fan of the ethos of the club was once valued at, the traditions and the things it has been built on. Hodgson seems a decent man, I've got nothing against him, I just don't think he's good enough - he's just a step down to what we had.

Personally I find it bang out of order to criticise our gaffer when he's not even fielded a single team.

Doesn't matter who he is or what he has or hasn't won. He's our gaffer now for better or worse, give him time, wait and see.
