net sales count as do payment profiles for individual deals.
so. if aqua was ~ 5 mill every 6 months but whoeverthefook was 20 mill up front in cash (more likely for strikers...) then our finances might rule out the latter mightnt they... SO WE COULDNT BUY THE FOOKING 20-30mill STRIKER as our lovely owners wouldnt sanction paying that amount out in one go. we're paying on the never-never so lump sums can go towards interest payments. consequently, rafa has to adapt tactically to accomodate the purchases our finances dictate - ngog + aqua as villa wasnt possible.
that ok geniuses?
he's gone. we're got roy so lets see what he can do.
Not to deviate too much from on going discussion with Fredo but perhaps the new Rafa thread should be set up. I thought this one was "Do you sack Hodgson or not".

Nice try, but cover for Torres did not need to equate to Villa or a £20m striker.
Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom- 2 years1year 0.5 years
Our net spent was negative last season, so I don't know where you got that figure.
NET spend, yes. He still spent around 40 million on bringing Aquilani, Johnson and Kyrgiakos to the club. Money which should have been spent differently with the benefit of hindsight.
And as far as paying the Aquilani fee in installments - as I understand it, the majority of deals work this way now anyway. I seem to remember reading that we only paid 4 million up front for Alonso. So Im sure we could have found a striker where we could have structured the payments to suit us a bit better.
PeteBest - your argument about spending is totally bewildering. Please explain your rational.
A striker. Kevin Philips would have helped our season FFS. If you want to claim the lack of a striker was offset by rafa's buys last summer, fair enough. He could have bought a striker, a RB and forty CM with the money spent last year. He didn't and it was a factor in us coming 7th and Rafa losing his job.
He will start getting respect from me once we see who he buys and most importantly who he sells. I think he has been brought in as a puppet manager and that scares me.

48 posts? Not earned respect yet, I think you're here as a puppet poster.
But seriously, it's a bit cuntish aint it?
Give the man some respect, he's our gaffa. If he ****s up feel free to crucify him, till then respect the position and hope he fills it.
Starting to get the feeling if he does fail there'll be a load of "fans" cheerily posting "told you so".
Well said . There is a growing number of " I told you so " fans who do nothing else but ridicule & whinge. Support the guy or join the toffees I say .
Well I will just wait until I say I told you so. All jokes apart I hope the guy does not fail, as it would mean a lot of joy for reds fans if he succeeds. I know he has not had a chance or picked his first team yet or even played a match, but I just feel there is an underlying reason why we got Hodgson, For me it is to asset strip but have a manager who can get the best out of little talent and he is without doubt the man for that, but as far as managing stars and getting us back up into 4th (at least) not confident he can do it.
