How long have the players been back in training? Obviously the players who have been at the World Cup will have been given longer off so I guess the team for this will be a young/reserve team perhaps featuring senior players who didn't make it to the World Cup?
So looks like Gerrard will be playing then

I just read the article about our new Doctor and thought I'd post this bit here. The full article will be in this week’s LFC Weekly.
"Alberto’s ankle, which was a problem last year, is now 100 percent healed," Brukner said. "He has been training and has looked very sharp. He’ll have to keep working on his injury prevention programme and if he does, I’m sure the supporters will see the best of him because last season was very frustrating for him injury-wise."
Brukner says that he has already either met or spoken to all of the players regarding their fitness programmes over the next few weeks, even those who are on holiday recovering from the World Cup.
"It is probably one of the more difficult summers to begin a job as a doctor at a football club that has a lot of players representing different countries at a major international tournament. All of the players are coming back at different times. The World Cup players are all having three weeks off from the time they returned to their country of origin. The first two to return are Milan Jovanovic and Sotirios Kyrgiakos. They’ll be joining us in Switzerland (on Wednesday). Then the next group will be the English boys, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger who will do three or four days at Melwood before we return from Switzerland. On the day we do get back, so will the Argentinians and the four who represented Holland and Spain in the final. Staggering pre-season presents a challenge. I’m guessing that the World Cup guys will be pretty fit anyway. You don’t lose a lot in three weeks and they’ve all been in contact with us to speak about their programme over that period."
i'd like to see aquilani start, with shevely on the bench. I think we'll go 4-4-2 with nemeth off ngog
So Nemeth is back with us ? I wasn't sure which is why I had the ? next to his name.
Dani Pacheco to show what he's capable of and Roy to present him a new contract to ward off interest.
Aqua should start too IMO. He's one of the few experienced players so a lot rests on his shoulders. He must dictate the play and stamp his authority on the game early.
Jova to make his debut off the bench and score a hatrick.
