Sorry to be a downer but I just do not see this as a great signing. He will flatter to deceive. Lots of fancy attempts but no real end product and a player who is slowing massively for a man of 28.

I'm well happy with Joe Cole, as long as he can get and stay fit. Otherwise we have too many injury prone players in key positions: Agger, Cole, Aqua and Torres.

Another thing I like about this signing is that we appear to have done it the right way, ie no ugliness, no shouting about it, just yes we've had a chat with him and than bang, we've signed him.

I hope this is the way we will conduct all our signings from now on, a few little rumours and then the signing. I do realise that this was a freebie and we haven't had to actually deal with an existing club yet, but fingers crossed and all that.

Just come back off holiday, phone battery died first thing this morning, dumped the cases, put the kettle on, put SSN on and saw this. Absolutely ****ing made up. He's got a bit to prove following his injuries but a fit Joe Cole is undoubtedly an upgrade on Yossi (and Garcia before him). Amazing news.
