Ged Houillier on Fowlers Snorting coke celebration

"It was a joke, it was a goal celebration he had been taught by Rigobert Song when he was playing for Metz in France. I can understand what people might think but it was nothing to do with the taunts he's had from Everton fans." said Houllier.

he did bull**** when he was here . . . . . .but so did rafa . . . . . .and i'm sure so will roy. its just how managers behave.

some of comments in that piece are a bit sickening though, but i'd never call him a prick etc . . . . . cause he did win us some silverware and he did leave us a team that won the CL.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

And let's remember, Ginola gave the ball away. He just gave the ball away. And it wasn't even a stray pass. He crossed the ball instead of taking it to the corner flag. That's it. Houllier is a disgrace, he should be embarrassed and ashamed of himself.
I agree he's going a bit crackers, but its exposed with his opinions, I really don't think he'd just make up this whole thing. It seems of late that whenever any player/manager says something negative about Rafa's tenure everyone claims they're all of a sudden making things up.

Personally I don't agree with Houlliers claim that Rafa has ruined his work at all, I do agree that he did a hell of a lot for LFC and set the foundations for others to work with and improve.

          Completely unwarranted from Houllier.

The handful of valid points he did make are engulfed in the egotistical posturing that engulf the article as a whole.

Shows a real lack of class does Ged, although we shouldn't be too surprised as he does have previous.

The team that Houllier left was never a team capable of winning the CL. We won the CL because of Rafa's tactical brilliance in nullifying teams (remember Juventus and Chelsea) and Steven Gerrard's best season in a red shirt (arguably - he was at his most inspirational though).

Houllier is a cock. That very same team had a lot of dross such as Salif Diao, Djimi Traore, Le Tallec, Hadji Diouf and what not. Rafa played most of them and gave them a chance before getting rid but still won the CL. I wonder if Houllier could have done anything with that team - that team had two poor seasons prior to that. Qualifying for the CL was somewhat of an achievement it could be said, but I doubt the competition was as fierce as last year, for example, when City and Spurs invested heavily.

He had his time and like Rafa,it was probably his time to go....I dont understand the level of animosity towards him from some fans....We had some great times under Houllier and won lots of trophies and as mentioned he played his part in bringing us forward in terms of diet, training and facilities.

I also hated the way we were towards the end of his reign, just like I was with Rafa's but He really loved the club and did his best and just like Rafa just couldnt take that last step.I truly believe him being ill was the major factor along with the signing of Diouf instead of Anelka as his downfall.

exactly - it's the way he has come out - it's all about him, how great he was, mentioning his illness as if it was some sort of excuse for signing diouf and diao etc.....

why not come out with - "when i came to liverpool the club had stalled, we tried to improve things, move forward, we did somethings well, made some mistakes, but I believe we did move forward.....after I left rafa continued to take liverpool forward winning the european cup, but in the last year the club has struggled on and off the field, and I believe that in roy hodgson, liverpool have found someone who hopefully get them going again."

Why dismiss rafa benitez as failure and try and claim his european cup win as your own, why slate roy evans, who everyone knew struggled as no.1 but someone who is still well respected at the club due to his professionalism, why continue to blame ginola for france's failure to qualify for what was an error in judgement at most......

I'm amazed anyone is jumping to his defence - the guy has clearly lost it, and has slowly starting losing it from probably his last full season at liverpool - this isn't about people jumping in to defend rafa
