    Martin Kelly

Probably not thread-worthy in itself, but I'm sure this can be used throughout the season to track his progress.

Martin Kelly called up by Stuart Pearce for the England U21s. #lfc #England
Was just wondering the other day if we might see him with the U21s before too long. I'm really hopeful for this lad.

Nice one, been showing promising signs.

Needs more game time, carling cup player this year definitely and back up to Johnson.

I think he could well be backup to Johnson throughout the season. He's certainly ready in my opinion, and Johnson does get the odd injury.

          No

I did think about putting it in there, but that thread is more for news updates rather than discussion, whereas this thread can be purely devoted to Martin. He deserves it

            No doubt

Shame that such a top right back in Johnson is ahead of him, will be hard for him to compete for a starting place.

For me he is the one player most likely to break through and play more often this season.

I'd put him ahead of Ayala and Pacheco in development at the moment, plus it helps that he can 'hide' at full back

I thought it was just the newish people had this fascination with starting a new thread for absolutely nothing.

Nah, at least this is a new (and worthwhile) story though, so expect 2 or 3 replica threads under different headings.

I presume this a friendly, so are their plenty of debutants or has he been added to the main squad?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He's probably already a better defender than Johnson to be fair...

I think he is because his natural instinct is to defend first then think about attack. No doubt whatsoever that if he stays focussed and keeps working hard he will be a fixture in this team before long.

                      Deserved.

Let's hope he doesn't get pushed to the back of the que if we go on a silly spending spree.

I think the lad has a bright future. Unfortunatly i cant see it being at liverpool. When was the last player we brought through? Gerrard? Thats too long ago. Sad fact is that youth dosnt make it at the club anymore.

We now buy talent........Jon Jo Shelvey for example
