he'll do for now. his performance against chelsea was decent but carra, ste, hodgson, raul and kyut all had to bawl him out over positioning and failing to close players down. given that, he is still young and learning and though ive not been overly impressed with him he does seem a better "defender" than johnson and untill we can replace he should be given a chance to see if he can improve.
I don't think bawled him out is the right term tho...Stevie had a word and so did Jamie, but nobody bawled him out.
He had a good game, in his first PL start, against Chelsea of all clubs, so it will do him the world of good. Nice to see some young lads getting game time...Shelvey coming on, and Spearing...i reckon all our players should shave their heads...Reina, Konchesky, Skrtel, Spearing, Shelvey, Meireles...wonder what Carra would look like as a skinhead??
Reading the paper today reminded me that if Roy had his way it would have been Luke Young playing RB against Chelsea. That would have been another 30+ player on high wages for NESV totry and flog.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
He's 20 years old. 20 year old defenders have so much learning still to do and progression to make. Kelly is a huge prospect - he just needs to be granted time and patience.
He is but imo not for the position of RB. He should be given an opportunity to play in his preferred position of a centre-half. Granted his positioning will get better with age but his lack of pace will become apparent as he is getting older and the earlier he makes the switch the better it will be for us and him.
Kelly got told of a few times, as did Lucas, but that just Carra for ya thats what he does. I thought Kelly has had a very impressive start to his LFC career, young and learning but looks a top prospect, and he's not even a RB. Well done to the lad.

Aye, but it's not unusual for young central defenders to do their first team apprenticeship out at full-back. Bit less pressure, not quite in the main firing line. He's a beast of a lad and could step into Carra's shoes when his time's up.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

My point exactly. It would be great to see him play as CB (tough to bring him in with other 3 CBs playing well at the moment). That's position he would truly excel and not in the role of RB. Hopefully Roy or the next manager will recognize that and give him a chance.

I hope so mate as i think this lad is going to be a very important LFC player in the coming years, a future of Kelly and Wilson as CB's, both mobile and decent footballers, big lads too. Like to see more of Dany Wilson too, pity that Northampton dicked us in the cup, would have been a perfect way to see these lads playing in their preferred positions.
I think he is a very good defender, but attacking wise he doesn't know what he is doing. I was happy with his performance, but unfortunately for the kid, the amount of times he just kinda stood there when everyone expected him to move was fairly high. To be honest, as long as he stays in position the whole game and doesn't let the opposing Left Winger get behind him for the whole game I wouldn't care if he didn't bomb on once, especially while we are struggling.
When he did get forward his crosses were decent and that left foot shot was a rocket! I would like to see him left rip on his right. If he can continue to develop his dribbling and attacking positional sense I can see him easily become far better then Johnson.
I would prefer to see Kelly in the centre but as he is pacey and we are lacking that. Obviously not quite yet but.
Very classy player, excellent prospect and the biggest compliment i can pay him is that he's never looked out of place or out of his depth, and i'd never worry about putting him into any game. He's slotted in seamlessly, and just does his job efficiently and without fuss.

did very well coming in against the champions and probably champions this year.
Needs to be used intelligently but looks a very good prospect for us.
