Okay moving on from the FB thing

From the very little I've seen from him, he seems a very very talented lad. And at just 16 you have to think if he is this good now.... but there has been many before him you could have said similar about so I'm not going to get too excited.... okay maybe just a little bit.

Our youth teams seem to be packed full of genuine talent, some English, some foreign. But it's exciting times in that respect and it looks to me that Rafa really was laying the groundwork for a top quality youth system.

There are two ways of looking at it I think. Certainly few 17 year olds prove to be good enough at 19.

Could be wrong but don't think players generally sign longer than 3 year deals until they are approaching the 1st team

if you were 17 with what seems like great promise would you sign for 5 years at say 10-20k a week when you could suddenly be in the first team in 12 months and be commanding 50k?

My point exactly. By the time we realize he is a real thing we will lose him. He looks extremely promising and we should have signed him for much longer contract than 3 years.

Why do we presume that he'll want to stay at Liverpool fc??
Imagine Hodgson in charge until the end of the season, Suso is 18 and nowhere near the 1st team (because we all know how much Roy loves young players)
6 months after that he indicates he doesn't want to stay and bang, gone, sold with a year to go for 3 million.

If we gave his a 5 or 6 year contract and he turns out to be rubbish we can still sell him back to a Spanish club in the same timescales for at least as much because he has longer left on his contract.

That's such an exaggeration. Why would somebody sign up to a 7 year deal earning at most a couple of thousand a week?
