I see that but there was lots of occasions where their fullbacks had advanced and had tonnes of space and time, with nobody out there to press.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think we lacked width as Arsenal tend to play through the middle. the best bet was to close in and keep it tight, and move across as a team.
And not to mention the lack of width when we attacked, too.

Depends if we play as narrow against them. It wasnt majorly costly today, but it could be on other occasions - if you give good players space and time in advanced wide positions, there's only so long you can get away with it.Originally posted by Baracus View PostSo we'll be raped by any team with width?

Not a fan of Johnson, never really have been.
He lacks concentration at vital times, caught napping today on a few occasions and if Arshavin was on form, he'd have tore Johnson apart.
As for his attacking play, yes, by and large it's good, links well with Kuyt but too often he tries too take on one too many and the move fizzles out.
Would rather he just made room for himself then got a few crosses in.

Yes, he's a good player, but that's not to say he isn't suspect defensively.

Ngog was to me a true revelation today. Really impressed by him especially in the second half. I think that he can carry us until Torres is back full time though it be nice to get one more striker.Originally posted by SlovenianKopite View PostGreat display from the lads, i'm proud of them. N'gog is at the moment a better option than Torres, who badly needs game time though. A hard one to call.
And Pepe i hope you got it out of your system now, and we can see the old reliable, fantastic Reina for the next 37 games.
Torres is definitely not only match fit but needs lot of time to get agility, speed and strength back.
Absolutely. For me Kuyt always slows game that it is sometimes painful to watch. Jova on the other had has spurts of pace and creativity that will be useful. Definitely not a good option to play them both in the same gameOriginally posted by Operation View PostJovanovic is quick, much quicker than Kuyt.
Aqua man for me but I doubt Roy will play him against Cityh. Probably Lucas..Originally posted by cream View PostSo who comes in for Cole, Lucas or Aquilani???
I hope that is not the case. I would like to see Maxi more.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIt's what makes him a certain starter under basically anyone. He will be a cast-iron regular under Roy IMO, just like he was under Rafa and is under Bert wotsit, the Dutch bloke.
I said it before and I will say again. If we want to have a realistic chances of competing for top 4 we must find a way to keep Masch. Outstanding player and definitely not a cunt as some labeled him lately. He left his heart on the pitch today as he always does.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWho cares if he can't pass. Yes his distribution, especially long, is rubbish but loads of the best centre-halves couldn't pass. Keown, Adams et al....they were garbage in possession. Who gives a ****.
Skrtel continues his revival if you ask me. Before his last injury he was getting back the form he showed in the early days, and today he was back to that bullish, dominant, uncompromising and powerful player we all know he can be.
Thought we were garbage in the 1st half. Had to laugh at Redknapp and Keys' anti-Benitez agendas going into overdrive with all manner of thinly-veiled - and I use that phrase loosely - digs. 1st half we were poor, couldn't hold the ball, never got Cole into the game (his frustration at barely having a kick possibly a factor in the reckless lunge) - yet the half-time 'analysis' was overwhelmingly positive. Bizarre.
Dead impressed with the reaction in the 2nd half. Great spirit and credit to Roy for that. Ngog just keeps on improving. If this lad was English the country would be creaming its proverbial pants over him. Hilarious to see him RAM Merson's jibes back down his grotty throat.
Mascherano was ****ing immense throughout, a towering performance. I hope to **** no move materialises. Man of the match for me.
Overall, absolutely galling to lose a goal like that at the end, it feels like a defeat, but it's not...it's alright. If we lose at City however, it starts to look a bit of a bad result. Must not lose at City.
GJ is a good player and to me he is not a weak spot. Without him Kuyt would be frozen on right each and every time. Yes sometimes he loses his concentration defensively but he definitely overcompensate on offensive side.Originally posted by liverpooltj View PostGlen johnson is a worry for me.
