I dont really see how he proved it at Roma. He didnt rattle off 2-3 consistent seasons of brilliant performances for them. And more to the point, they had no qualms about selling him to us.

unless defour is coming in this could be one of those season defining moments especially given that gerrard has probably only managed 35 games in each of his last 2 seasons.

Often the lending Club also receives a fee. Might get as much as £5m for a one season loan of Aquilani. Might come in handy if Masch is staying.

I never thought he would make in this league. To repeat the majority of the posts, he was way to fragile, and I thought he could not handle the pace, and the ball release time. Italian tactics never work in England.

he cant play in a midfield two but could play in a 433 or in the hole behind the striker.

When we signed him someone actually said that his best position was just behind the striker - cant remember who but it was someone from the italian football show on whatever channel it is now.

I also remember that someone else said that he would be back in italy within 12 months and would completely flop.

Its a shame but we need to move on. As for spearing, lets not kid ourselves he's never going to be good enough for the first team as a starter. I guess it probably signals the end of masher to inter / barca which can only be a good thing.
