Yes you want to do your shopping early in the off season to give a new player a chance to gel but it is not uncommon to buy players just before transfer window closes.

On that note, Maxi can play that position (to me he'd be a prefered choice) until the new signing is ready to start, which may happen sooner rather than later if you consider Poulsen for example.

It seems he will be Roy's first choice, over much safer option like Lucas, even though he never played in PL.

We sure could do the same with a new winger if we have too (by having a bigger picture in mind).

Also when it comes to the new players, unless we sell I am not sure anybody is coming..
Has Roy/Liverpool denied that Maxi is leaving/allowed to go?I remember the rumours a couple of weeks ago about him going out on loan to Spain. I was away for a while and got no clue about it.

Poulsen to me is a no risk addition. Roy knows him from the past and we have good competition for that position.

If we had the money and LB/Striker in the bag I would love us to sign a good winger. At our current economic state I just don't see it happening

Back to topic, go get 'em tonight Dirk!

Those rumours were squashed in the same week they were generated.

I personally do see Poulsen as a risky proposition this early in the season, as he is totally new to PL, but that argument is for a different thread.

Hopefully he'll impress tonight and we will get at least a point against Cityh

Last 2 years, when we got a good result at Eastlands, Shaggy wasnt there.

                      Last night: Shaggy went.

You lot can draw your own conclusions about that...

Did anyone else find Kuyt's performance a bit odd last night?

Thought he looked unusually half-arsed, seemed a little more agitated than usual as well...mouthed off at the Ref a few times too.

He spent large parts of the game in heated debate with Carra, too. Especially in the first half.

Did he yeah, did Carragher bite back?

Man he definetely seemed to have something on his mind and i know people will think i'm just hinting that he's unsettled by the Inter Milan rumours but he's usually the model pro and one to rally the troops!

Last night he looked like he didn't want to be out there.

It seemed to be Carra laying into Dirk and Dirk having a go back. Nothing untoward of course, happens on football pitches at every level all the time.
