i know 15 mill or whatever the rumoured price for him was would have been a great bit of business for us and a sorely tempting proposition, but i'm DELIGHTED dirk has said this.

    well in dirky boy!!
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

There's no way I class Kuyt with Reina, Gerrard and Torres. Good player and a great servant but no way.

Skill wise no, obviously, but as far as heart and what makes a team tick, and a will to fight fight and fight some more...yes. You need that as much as skillful players. imo, a mix of both is what makes a winning team, just a pity we don't have the cash to add more real quality now.

Kuyt is easily replaceable if we get £15m for him. Hard working players are abundant, no disrespect to Kuyt.

            Is that so?

            I'll go with Hodgson's assessment.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Disagree. Obviously your opinion of him differs to mine, and i believe he brings more than just hard work, his goal tally for the position he plays is'nt that shoddy either.

What's he got...14-16 goals in europe, averages 10 a season maybe in the prem, i don't think players like that are as easy to find and buy as is often claimed.

Add to that the probablilty that if we had got 15mill for him...Roy would have got about 6 to spend.

People like Kuyt because he's already here. There's a lot of sentimentality when it comes to it. I like Kuyt but to consider him as important to us as Gerrard and Torres, that's daft.

Well Reina, Gerrard and Torres are our 3 world class players, so it is a little, however in terms of the overall squad, I think you might also be under rating the importance of character and solidity. Really, with Benny and Masch gone, we don't have all that many senior players to lead the team on and off the pitch and be good role models for the younger players. Carra and Kuyt really are the only other 2. In that respect anyway I think he could be seen as up there.

I think that's a fallacy to believe that the most important players should be the ones who have an abundance of flair.
                      Are we winning?

I don't disagree with this. In these circumstances, it's important to hold on to senior players, under any other circumstances, £15m for a 30 year old Kuyt is great business.

The most important players are the ones who have the greatest impact. Gerrard and Torres are our two most important players (outfield). I considered Alonso in that group as well before, his loss was big. Kuyt, Carragher, Agger, Johnson, Benayoun and Mascherano were in that second tier.

Not a fan of dirk and never have been and I posted a ffs comment last night when he said he was staying.

But after sleeping on it, in the current position we find ourselves in, it would probably be stupid to let him leave so close to the window closing. There's been enough changes without letting an experienced player leave and we have a small squad anyway.

So despite his limitations I'm glad he's staying for the time being.

So dissappointed in you, and after Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooy was called daft too for saying he's as important as Stevie and Nando and has always been a part of his plans.

                            Damnit! i wanted fireworks...
