Appointing Roy - A huge mistake

Personally I was bored to the back teeth of Rafa. So much so that had he still been here I would have struggled to tune into the games this season. It felt like he'd worn me down. But as I'd mentioned before I don't know how much was Rafa or football in general. A bit of both in all reality.

So any new manager would have filled me with optimism. Short term at least. But Hodgson is actually a manager I really respect. In two and a half seasons he did a fantastic job at a club with a small squad and small budget. He got the best out of some seasoned pro's, ones that had been disguarded by others. So given better resources what can he achieve?

Already he represents a lot of Liverpool past, good basic values, be polite, keep matters in house and try to reassure the fans wherever possible. I prefer this style to previous ones. All I want to see now is the players playing with a smile.

Maybe he'll fail and I'll hold my hands up. But then again the odds are stacked against any manager being a success here right now. All I know is I haven't missed a minute of any of our games so far and I am looking forward to seeing the new players settle in. That'll do for me right now.

its strange but some managers struggle with top top players but can manage and get the best out of those a level below.

I think Roy is a good manager he may be the right one for us now in our position but i doubt he would ever win us a league title.

For me some of his weaknesses are the same as Rafas. He doesnt have the strengths that Rafa has imo. However Rafa was in part responsible for the negativity surrounding the club. I know its the owners fault but sometimes to have someone who gets on with it rather than complaining can help the situation.

but who knows we are where we are and we need to move on.

Looks like our next manager's shortlist if Hodgson fails and Purslow still demands british....... Would love Holloway though, that blokes a legend!

Everything gets blown out of proportion where Rafa is concerned now, he didn't moan all the time about the owners..he just made everyone aware of what was going on...Hodgsons only been here a short time and already he's talking about not being able to do anything too great without new owners....but when Rafa did it... it was moaning!...and the press ran with it...non stop.

Truth is...the club/board decided it doesn't want an ambitious manager just now....as they know lfc won't be able to match those ambitions.

You say it's the same negative posters and all that, but I bet a lot of the people not happy with Hodgson are those who resolutely stuck behind Benitez. Me for one, and I'm generally anything but miserable and negative (or a **** either for that matter ).

I'm by no means writing Hodgson off and will of course give him time, but SO FAR I've seen absolutely nothing from him that inspires me, and makes me believe he will do a good job.

I hope I'm 100% wrong I really do.

Plus, I bet a lot of the same people moaning about others writing Hodgson off after 5 minutes, are also writing Jovanovic off after the same amount of time. I can name at least one person who is doing so.

Those stats are depressing. I would cut the team more slack if they actually played soem decent football but it has been dross. As bad as the darkest days under Houllier. We need to turn a corner real soon or this season will turn out to be even worse than the last one.

yep, nothing have seen has changed form last year, which you have described so well above....although not sure if we won as much as 1 in 4?

But i do think Roy needs time for his creatives to bed in.
