I fear that injuries have taken their toll and he may never get back the pace he had a couple of years ago. Obviously there's a lot more to him, an he's a topclass player all round and when totally fit he'll be a great player again, but I do worry that his best seasons are behind him.

I actually think he looks a little more solid than he has done previously. Perhaps part of his rehab is to beef up overall, but it seems like he's lost that burst off the mark due to this/injuries.

In all honesty it is not like he was fed all game long. Except one pass from GJ in the first half (he should have scored) and 1-2 with Stevie once I cannot recall any decent ball sent his way.

His solo run in the second half was one of the few opportunities that we could have capitalized on.

I love Torres he is world class but he has been ****ing putrid, lets not beat around the bush, he is showing zero effort and no passion, something that we all love about him. I know Torres isn't renowned for his technique but his touch is nothing short of shocking.

Hopefully when Cole comes back it will reunite the spark and the Cole/Gerrard/Torres trio can kick into action. But criticism of Torres is well justified IMO although what i will say is that Torres gets absolutely no service from wide areas as our wingers as awful actually we have no wingers and a midfield consisting of Lucas gives you nothing, Merieles could change that, maybe but certainly no excuse for Nando not to give maximum effort.

Agree to a point but how depressing must it be when you get zero service, long hoof balls and the dynamic partnership of Poulsen and Lucas pulling the strings.

He looks short of fitness which won't help his touch either and unfortunately he has be played back in to form.
            We come not to play.

I hear ya mate, yeah the lack of service is criminal, we literally have zero productivity from both wings and the Lucas/Poulsen partnership kinda nullfies any sort of creativity centrally although i do think Poulsne has looked good and he is looking for that positive ball which just doesn't happen with Lucas.

Hopefully with Cole back, Konchesky not injured too badly and Merieles coming in it might change the dynamic of the team and give Torres that boost he desperately needs, because in order for us to challenge we need hi firing.

Torres didn't have a good game granted but as has been pointed out he travelled to Argentina, he is coming back from difficult injuries, he didn't get a lot of support from a team yet to click and I thought during the match that he was impatient and it was like he wanted to score everytime he saw the ball. He needs to loosen up and relax, he is that good that everything will sort it self out.

Remember when Owen went through one of his barren runs, everybody and his dog would write him off instantly, saying he lost his pace and that his carreer was over (it wasnt until he left us).
                * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

The first few balls that Torres got into feet he had Dann/Johnson bundling into the back of him and that seemed to put him on the back foot.
The combination of Gerrard and himself didn't work yesterday and we only looked like doing something when Meireles came on and Gerrard moved back into centre midfield. We got nothing at all from the wings and I was surprised Babel never made an appearance.
Hopefully when we get Cole and Meireles onto the field from the start we will start seeing some more creativity.

He's gone to the dark side.

It's time for our blondie to come back.

I almost crashed after hearing parry and graham on the radio talking nonsense about how him being a brunette now means opposition defenders don't know it's torres they are up against.

                      He needs help. Not abuse.

                        Speaking from experience, eh, "Rudo"?
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Personally, I can't understand why he's not playing well.......

I mean, it's not like he's coming back from injuries and it's not like he isn't built for a long ball game, i mean that's exactly what he is - a target man.

                          Yeah right...........

Journos and experts are ****ing daft. Torres will get better once he's fully match fit and once we stop hoofing the ball up at him.
                          Forwards.......

The problem is not with the combination of Torres and Gerrard, it's the lack of ammunition from midfield. We need someone who could run the midfield and sadly, there's no one even close to doing that at the club, except Gerrard, but we'll lose his ability of playing closer to Torres. The triumvirate of Alonso, Torres and Gerrard was perfect - with Mascherano holding behind them and good width on both flanks. We've lost our heart with the loss of half of that quartet.
                            Are we winning?

not that kind of help, obviously.

With Kuyt being injured is a real **** one as one way or another Kuyt picks Torres out during a game - they have a good understanding.

I can only hope with Cole coming back, Meireles bedding into the side and Gerrard playing Torres will be provided with good service.

If Konchesky and Johnson(if he gets his **** together again) get up and support the attack that'll be a bonus for him as well.
