On the whole Konchesky had an appalling game yesterday but I thought he steadied himself up a bit from the 15th minutes onwards until half time. He came back second and he was being run ragged by Nani, culminating in him being substituted.

Just looking at him, his body language and his looks, he doesn't smack as a Liverpool player at all. Worrying times.

I didn't think he was being "run ragged". The problem was that he was always standing off the right-winger, whoever was in that role at any given time. So Man U had an out ball to a free man on the right time after time. I could understand someone playing out of position failing to close down a winger, but as Konchesky is an out-and-out full-back he has no excuse for such shoddy defending. And what the hell was he doing standing in the middle of the goal-line at that corner when if he'd stayed on the post he would have easily cleared Berbatov's soft header?

To be fair, we tried to keep the ball on the deck at all times against United and only really hoofed when under pressure. It didn't necessarily work as more often than not we ended just up passing it backwards until we had to hoof, but I think the game plan was to try primarily to keep it on the deck and keep possession, which is why possession was roughly 50/50 even though we were away from home to a superior side.

Agreed - even Carragher whose default approach is to hoof the ball into low-earth orbit rather than pass it along the deck to a team-mate in space 10 yards away didn't seem to do much of his usual hoofing. Let's hope the trend continues.

Did you watch the game yesterday? How much hoofing did we do in defence? Very little in comparison to some of our past performances. If there was a game I'd put money on us hoofing the ****ing thing it was yesterday but on the whole we didn't. That alone should tell you this is bollocks.

Sad times yes. If it was a simple choice between stifling your defence or stifling your attackers, I know which I'd choose. I can see the logic behind that approach as a starting point, however the two can't be mutually exclusive surely?

We have Johnson who is playing as a part time right winger who loves to cut inside and Konchesky who saw more of the oppo corner flag than the flag itself..

I was not in favour of the appointment of Hodgson and remain unconvinced by him. I am willing to change my mind though.

However, if it's true that he wants our defenders to lump it forward, then I think he is dragging us back to the Dark Ages and will have no hesitation in calling for him to be sacked.

It doesn't say that though does it. Fullbacks can make a simple pass to the midfield and it's not lumping the ball forward

I actually thought yesterday's passing display was the best I've seen under Roy so far and it will get better, we just need to look for more decisive forward thinking passing rather than going backwards all the time.

I just can't see him wanting us to hoof the ball that is utter ****e as is this article. The ball was very rarely out of play yesterday and that was from both teams.

It's just a case of us applying more pressure and pressurizing the opposition now, that's what we need more of, similar to what Utd did to us in a way. That and a bit more composure and we'll start to see a decent team again.

What he did in the past has nothing to do with anything. I could trun around and say Fulham put great performances in away from home in Europe. I could say in his time coaching elsewhere his away record has been fine.

His away record with Blackburn was bad, but so was his home record and that was why he got the sack.

Fulham do better at home like all teams, bur more so because the Cottage is a stadium that is right on top of you and effects the game more than other grounds, in much the way The Dell did for Southampton. No coincidence they got relegated when they got a nice shiny new stadium.

His away record with Liverpool is poor as we've played Birmingham (not lost at home in a year) Man City (title challenging home record last season) and Man Utd (awesome home record). I'm not overly worried by those results. I will be worried if we don't get minimum 11 points (But I want 13 to be happy) from our next 15 and if we fail to win away from home against poorer opposition.
