If you look at the strikers linked to us the last few months then almost all of them are big strong target strikers.

I think that it's very clear that Roy want us to play Houllier style football. The problem is of course as has been pointed out that we don't have a Heskey in the team so it won't really work until we signed that big strong target striker Roy want.

Looks like Roy fancies Babel less than Rafa did!

I dont see that system working with the players we have, just like I didnt see 4-4-2 working either
I agree absolutely. I haven't liked anything I've seen since Hodgson has taken over the reins.

I'm willing to put this on the fact that he needs time to get his ideas over, but from what I've seen, ditching zonal marking for man to man, with our defence looking like conceding each time from a corner or a cross, plus the way we surrender possession and sit deep, doesn't bode well for the future.

He looks increasingly out of his depth, especially during matches. He doesn't look like a man in control. His brutal honesty even sounds irritating.

Watching us this season brings back memories of Houllier and Evans.

i have to admit i was quite happy for him to take charge and he is still has my backing......but I am not liking anything i have seen so far!!

I would also add to that list....Agger not playing and his substitions have always come to late too.

Lets give him a chance, but not looking promising

I'll be patient and give him the chance as well. Looking to the next 5 winnable league games should be a start for him. Win at least 4 of them will give him much needed breathing space.

Anything other than that, we'll be in serious trouble. We don't want to be sucked in a rut of bad results as we're in an horrible position.

The Houllier reference was for the bad football. The Evans one referred to his clueless behaviour during matches.

                    Just another point is this

IF Hodgson wants players to hoof the ball out of defence then why did he spend £2 million on Wilson?

Because everything I've seen of Wilson suggests hes more like Agger than he is like any of our other defenders

                        I dont believe that sorry

That deal floundered when Rafa was here, the Echo itself said the deal was dead and buried

Hodgson comes in a suddenly we are hot for him again

Now either Hodgson saw him / knew of him and ok'd it OR somebody else at the club (Kenny, Macia, Purslow) encouraged him to do it

Maybe we should have appointed him manager then

We might have then got to use the player rather than shelling out £2 million we dont have on something the manager doesnt need

You never know who wanted Wilson. Maybe he is a Purslow signing or maybe not.

Purslow have already showed that he is prepared to sign players behind the managers back(Van der Vaart) even if that deal fell through. So it's very difficult at the moment to say who makes the final decision to sign/sell a player.
