I don't like the bloke, but look at the immediate impact Harry Redknapp had at a Spurs squad that was on its knees after Ramos. I think we all hoped for something similair from Roy, after all the talk of the cold Benitez approach, and the reported fuzzy warm Grandad Roy approach which, as said in the article, was supposed to inspire our precious squad.
Bollocks.
I just can't see Roy turning this around, its just too much. His signings are as uninspiring as his tactics (Konchesky, Jones and Pulsen - I can't imagine Cole, Meireles, Wilson and Shelvey had anything to do with him).
I hate the parallels with Newcastle, and I would hate to see Kenny's legacy being tainted by the ****e being served up just now, but SURELY it couldn't be any worse.

To be honest unless things improve drastically I can't see us finishing above 6th, We're nowhere near Chelsea or Man Utd who'll be top 2, Or Arsenal and Man City, I also feel Spurs are ahead of us too, I can't see us finishing above any of those, which leaves us 6th. One place above last year admittedly but last year everything that could go wrong went wrong, an awful record of injuries where we were down to the bones, as well as some poor refereeing decisions - the beach ball goal last year cost us a place in the table and would have meant that we didn't have to go through Europa League qualifying
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm not sure it is cyclical - I think, like Italy before us, when we were the richest league we were the strongest league but like them the youth development was neglected and it was a castle built on sand. In Spain the tactical and technical development seems to be at a higher level at a younger age so they will always be there or there abouts (unless they become complacent and stop investing at the lower levels).Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostAgree. As I said in another thread, we're miles behind La Liga at present. It does all seem to be cyclical though. I wouldn't be surprised if ours is the strongest league again in a few years.Last edited by dww; 26-09-10, 01:53 PM."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Sod off with your intelligent theory-based reasoning will youOriginally posted by dww View PostI'm not sure it is cyclical - I think like Italy before when we were the richest league we were the strongest league but like them the youth development was neglected and it was a castle built on sand. It's a cycle, a nice easy to understand merry go round where everyone has their turn

just a couple of points.
Hollway is trying to attack every team. You have to applaud that approach but what else can they do sit back and get ****ted every game? at least this way they give their fans something. The job is very different their from here.
also those who say the players will run through walls for the King. I can see that Carra and SG will. Maybe cole but in reality will the foreign lads? does babbel know about the king really?
i just dont buy it. When things arent going well you want the opposite to what you have and the King does fill that to a certain extent. Its too much of a risk but if Roy went whoever we appoint is a Risk much like the appointment of Roy is.
Roy has another 10 games to turn it round. if he doesnt then the answer is by no means clear. Finding the problem is easy, finding a solution is another matter entirely.

No one know how long time Hodgson will be our manager because that most probably depends on when we get a new owner.
As soon as that happens he will be sacked IMO but not before then. Could happen next week or in a month time or even longer than that.
There is a couple of replacements out there with no job at the moment, like Pellegrini and Lippi. Managers that would jump at the chance as soon as we get a new owner.
To get a new owner is really the key to solve almost everything that is wrong at the club.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Which is why we shoudl sack roy after the next 5 games if he hasnt improved.
Bring in Kenny as caretaker tiill takeover is complete and if he is doing well let him keep the job._____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?

He cannot do worse than Roy at present. And if he doesn't do well, when the takeover happens we can get a quality manager in.Originally posted by Marsh View Postand if Kenny doesnt do well?_____________________________________

He is fast becoming an embarrassment is old Roy. His early fighting talk before the season got under way has given way to talking about "no easy games even at home" - what utter bollocks. Even if you think it, as Liverpool manager you don't say it in post match interviews. This dumbing down of expectation and scaling back on ambition can only be benfitting him to give himself some breathing space.
**** off Roy. Nobody thinks of drawing with Sunderland as finishing any week on a high. We should be attacking to win 3-0.
