The board/owners don't comment at all on the team or Hodgson - he is not getting any public backing, is that something that is normal or are they sorry they hired him?
    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I've also seen Jamie Carragher's comments this morning and this 'no quick-fix' mentality is totally wrong in my opinion. They should ask themselves why we had to change things in the first place (as in the playing/managing side of things), as it's for all to see that it's not the root cause of our problems.

Our board should work harder getting rid of the owners/finding better owners rather than trying to change things on the pitch. It's really depressing.
Torres can **** off, Carra is spot on.

We should sell all our foreign players and buy english only/

so fair to say rafa had to go then cause he looked fed up with him too.

i dont think you can qualify a manger to manage lfc by saying they must motivate torres.

We now know who's to blame for all this.

Who's really to blame for Liverpool FC's fall from grace?

EXACTLY one year ago today, Liverpool sat third in the Premier League table and, with 15 points from their first seven games, were one win away from joining Chelsea at the head of affairs.

Though Rafa Benitez's squad were smarting from a 2-0 defeat suffered in Fiorentina the night before, there was no sense at all that the campaign would unravel.

Benitez spoke after the trip to Florence about managing expectations, as he was conscious that a win at Stamford Bridge - Liverpool's next assignment - would stamp his team down as title contenders.

However, as we all know, losing to Chelsea sparked a sequence of five defeats in six matches and Liverpool's hopes of success at home and abroad plunged dramatically.
To put this into context, consider these facts - Liverpool have played 56 times in all competitions, won 25 games, drew 14 and lost on 17 occasions.
In the time since that trip from Stamford Bridge on October 4, the manager has changed and the best holding midfielder in the world has moved on,
Furthermore, the club has been gripped by unrelenting ownership problems, resulting in it being officially placed up for sale.
It's also widely acknowledged that the team's play has lacked pizazz and the entertainment value at Liverpool matches now is minimal.
What has happened, then, in the last 12 months to make all this happen? Theories, of course, abound.
Most blame the owners, others point a finger at Benitez, some feel it is down to the players.
There is, though, something else to consider - exactly one year ago today, I was preparing to cover my final Everton game for the ECHO before becoming the journalistic equivalent of Nick Barmby.
You get where this is going.
Forget about the change in the Boot Room. Ignore the mess in the boardroom. Put aside the revolving door of arrivals and departures.
Yes, ladies and gentleman, it would appear that my taking on the role of Liverpool correspondent has been responsible for the most calamitous 12 months in the club's 118-year history.
People no longer greet me by my first name; it's now either 'Doom', 'Jinxy', 'The Grim Reaper' or 'Mufo' - that's Argentine slang for 'The Curse'.
Text messages in recent weeks from certain players have arrived simply saying "BRING BACK BARRETT!!!"
So there you have it. When results go askew, don't analyse the situation too much. The mystery has been solved.
Just do me a favour - no banners on The Kop please.

I keep telling myself that this team is going to click anytime now. We have too many good players for it not too. OK, we may not have the depth of Man Utd, Chelsea or Citeh, but we have enough match winners to beat anyone on our day and that should see us win far more games than we lose.

Since Hodgson has taken over we seem to have become lightweight, there is a lack of fire in midfield which has seen us be overrun even when we've outnumbered the opposition across the middle of the pitch. We're sitting deep, not pressurising the ball carrier and encouraging the other team to develope attack after attack. Then we have little pace in midfield to hit them on the counter.

With Torres, Gerrard, Cole and Johnson, we should be creating quite a few chances, but even against some of the poorer sides in the league we've struggled to create a single chance or two. We're too predictable and pedestrian in midfield and if things continue in the same manner then heads will drop so much so that it'll be too far gone to bring them back up and with Hodgsons relentless insistence on dampening expectations, the players will soon start to accept a draw or a loss as part of normality. The winning spirit and drive that makes the difference between a winner and a loser will be all but gone.

You only have to look at some of the sides Fergie has had over the years and on paper they had no right to win anything, yet his desire and winning mentality, his passionate rejection of failure, saw them battle for top honours time and time again. Roy is accepting the unacceptable, and whats more, he's expecting us to as well, which of course means the players too.

If Roy is going to turn this around, he has to scrap everything he's done so far. He needs to wake up today and wipe the slate clean and walk into Melwood as a ****ing winner, anything less will be a disaster. He needs to make the medicore playes we have feel 10 feet tall, he needs to make them believe that they're better than they are and he needs to make sure that they know that draws against the likes of Sunderland and Birmingham are a ****ing disaster and he needs to make them feel that they can compete with the Utds and Chelsea's of this world because thats who we are and what we're about. He needs a complete change of character and it needs to start now FFS.

              THIS IS ANFIELD

Read it, feel it, live it.

Hodgson doesn't have a clue how to play Torres to his strengths, the way he's utilising him now is wrong. Rafa got it right, the statistics tell you that. Hodgson is ruining his game and he's even admitted to not having a clue, not one time, but several times.

but torres was pissed off with rafa last year for humping long balls into the corners for him to chase and having no support.

on more than one occasion last year torres snubbed a handshke with rafa when walking off the pitch.

he also played him continoulsy when he was injured and subbed him when we needed goals.

IMO rafa got it wrong with him more than he got it right. as we're in a transitional phase i'm not surprised roy doesnt know how best to get play him..............yet.

Cole and Meireles are footballers capable of threading those type of passes but they were out on the flanks, while Christian Poulsen and Lucas were assigned to keeping the barriers battened down in the middle. Sadly it meant the situation for Liverpool was all of a muddle.

That'll be why Torres scored 18 goals in 20 games then.

With Rafa we had a chance to win every game even if we played **** we still had a chance because Rafa is a great manager that will make the other team work hard to beat us.

With Roy we now go into a match feeling that we may get a draw and that the opposition will boss the game.

Rafa would have set up a team and destroyed a team like Blackpool. 3,4,5-0 without any doubt at all even if we played **** we still won games like that very easy.

No easy games anymore, not even Blackpool at home.

He didn't play Torres when he was injured. He took him off in a few games just to avoid injuries and got a lot of stick for that. He also got a lot of stick because he rested him in a couple of games to avoid injuries.

                              Transitional you are right

We are transiting from a boring, organised side that couldnt push on into a ****ing shambles

Meireles on the right he was ****ing dreadful like a fish out of water JUST LIKE HE WAS AGAINST SUNDERLAND

4-4-2 again, it didnt work against City, it didnt work against Sunderland and it once again didnt work last night once again IT DOESNT ****ING WORK

I can understand you not liking Rafa thats fair enough but your defence and analysis of Roys performance so far is blinkered in the extreme

you and Roy seem to be the only people painting a positive picture of things so far

We have been a ****ING ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES under Roy. Tactically hes inept

He makes Rafa look like Rinus Michels

None of his tactics make sense with the players he has at his disposal and thats even if you ignore the perception that Liverpool shouldnt be playing tactics that involve surrendering possession and defending your 18 yard box for dear life
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
