Roy Hodgson / Fernando Torres Rift

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson admits he does not know how serious Fernando Torres' injury is after the striker limped off against Blackpool.

The Tangerines stunned Anfield with a 2-1 win in the Premier League in a result which piles the pressure on Reds boss Hodgson.
Torres limped off after less than 10 minutes on Sunday with a groin problem and the Spaniard was replaced by David Ngog.
Hodgson says he still does not know the extent of the injury, and is not aware of when the problem occurred.

"He has a groin strain, but I don't know how severe it is," Hodgson said.

"They (the medical team) are assessing it at the moment. It happened early in the game which came as a surprise to us.

"We were not aware of any problems with the groin. I don't know if it happened during the course of the game when he stretched for the ball. I don't really know."

Liverpool will want to put the Blackpool result out of their minds as soon as possible but will have to wait until after the international break until they play Everton in a Merseyside derby

I think its clear that this is coded talk to make everyone aware he doesn't think there's anything up with Torres and they've fallen out, and he's come off with not a lot wrong with him. Can't imagine Nando was too happy with the comments about name players not performing as well as his Fulham players of last year (he was clearly referring to Torres's bad form)...question is - is this a Mascherano style refusal to play? Was this a message from Torres that he's off and is not a fan of Hodgson?

Unacceptable if it is. He knows how important he is and how he can change games.

Or maybe Roy is just using him to dig himself out of a ****storm, deflection style.

I dont see anything in those comments to see how you've come to that conclusion.

Possibly me just being paranoid. Reading too much into it. It was more the "I don't know anything..." "I wasn't aware of any problems with him..." "It came as a surprise to us..."

I don't think there's anything in Roys comments to suggest a rift but Nando is distinctly unimpressed with his management style and the state of the club that's for sure.

Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he was off in January unless we're taken over.

Don't see any problem with his comments but Roy is the main reason to why Torres is now injured again.

Rushed back and forced to play EL games. He should never have played in a single EL game this season considering his injury record.

Only league games should have been the one and only option.

Theres enough wrong with the club without needing to look for other problems. Though im sure Torres has worked out by now he's one of the worst managers in the league and Rafa was a god send for his game.

The thing is, I wouldn't hold it against him if he was 'uninspired' and couldn't motivate himself to playing for us. Hodgson's not playing to his strengths at all and he doesn't seem to have a clue how to? A top player such as him deserves better. He became the best striker in the world as soon as he started working with Rafa. It's obvious there's a massive gulf in class between both managers and I would be at a loss on where my game would evolve in 6 months time with the current manager.
                            Are we winning?

This is a bonkers thread as the creator clearly already recognises ....but I dare say it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility if Torres was hating every second of life under Hodgson and his mouldy tactics. I don't think he enjoys chasing hopeful long punts into the corners, and I'm certain he doesn't enjoy playing every single week without having a clear cut chance created for him. I don't think he's had a one v one with a goalkeeper last season. It's shambolic.
