I also think it is true to say that it isn't a team built by Mourinho, it was built by the director of football.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostCommon myth, that.

IMO it's not half as arrogant as someone not admitting they were wrong but hey ho, maybe this time you're right.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

The bit in bold. That's the key. Rafa didn't have it (regardless of results last season) and every manager in europe worth spit (and Roy isn't!) could see that they wouldn't have it that's why the whole argument of sacking Rafa or not was built on sand.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI dont see any reason why a top manager wouldnt want to come into a massive club, with good backing and the greatest opportunity in football that could elevate them to god-like status (if they could bring us number 19). That is what a new manager would be looking at, under new owners.
I'm not being deliberately anything, except honest.
The basis of this debate is about people who perhaps wanted rafa out, and the fact that this was on the proviso that we'd have new owners, and be able to get a top manager in, as opposed to roy.
It's not really about whether or not wanting him out was 'right' or 'wrong'.
It was stated by many on here and other boards that sacking a good manager after 1 **** season without the ownership issue being sorted was madness. Just plain earth-shatteringly stupid.
Right, wrong, good bad blah blah blah, just show some patience. Sort the ownership then the new owner can do what they like...
It's isn't/wasn't rocket surgeryI'm in a glass cage of emotion!

Bored at training today so I told them all to go home. Now the real action begin, The Hodge having a penalty comp with Mike Kelly.
royhodgson_lma The Hodge
The thing with Kelly is that he looks his age, unlike The Hodge who belies his years. If I catch one right I might kill him.

He's diving round like a 20 year old, ha ha ha, it's so funny to watch. Stupid old cunt.

Victory for The Hodge!!! It's no wonder Reina is so **** with Kelly coaching him. I saved every penalty, think I'll take on keeper coaching.

That'll be an end to the creative fannying around we've endured recently. Get the ball, lump forward to Torres, none of this rolling it out.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Rafa built a great team, then the backing went and the team got worse. Nothing more to say on it than that tbh. It's hardly a suprise the team got worse, it was to be expected.
The worst thing is, my opinion last season was that Rafa in charge would have a negative effect on the takeover as he couldn't keep his mouth shut. Due to this, I thought it was time for a change of manager. I didn't expect us to get a world class manager in, but did think we could at least attract a good manager.
But the daftest thing I thought was that there was no way we would bring in a manager who would have us doing too much worse than last season. In fact without the distraction of CL footy I expected a strong challenge for the top 4.
I couldn't have been more wrong could I?
All that said, I would have loved to have seen Rafa with the chance to compete with an even chance in the transfer market. But I wouldn't really want to see him back now. I wouldn't be against it, but personal preference is a fresh start.
Of course, i'm again assuming that we can actually attract a top manager and that we'll replace the old duffer.

subject of Roy, seems Werner expects a new board by the end of the year. Maybe they're waiting until then. Problem with that is Comolli has been scouting for players Roy wants. New man in and all that work would be down the pan.Forwards.......

A great manager once said to me, if the centre of your team is strong then you have a strong team. Hence why I play so many central players.

It's easy to forget in all this negativity surrounding the club that I was the best manager in the league last season. You don't lose that.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Why not? Rafa did.Originally posted by Arn View PostDo you honestly believe that Mourinho would take a job if someone else decided who they buy and sell?
For the record. Inter spent a lot of money.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

It would be funny if it wasn't quite so depressing, I was told I was talking '****' by you when I gave my opinion, in April, that we should stick with Rafa because in the state we were in we wouldn't be able to attract anyone better to the club and that its better to stick with the devil you know in uncertain times.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post
Now you're being silly, if you're suggesting that there's NOBODY who could be a better manager than Rafa.
Might i remind you that, greener or not, that rafa took us to our lowest league finish for the best part of 20 years, and that now, in his new job, he's struggling to stay in the CL places.
I'm very fond of rafa and i'd take him back tomorrow, on the chance that, with good backing, he would take us to the top - but it is exactly that - a 'chance'. It's by no means guaranteed, and rafa is by no means undoubtedly the best manager you can get.
I wish I could gloat over how things have gone but, unfortunately my very worst fears came true. The supporters of your ilk got your wish. Rafa was sacked. Then my fears were realised and we got Roy as a replacement.
Rafa got us to the lowest league position for the best part of 20 years, that was just after getting us to the equal best for the same length of time and with one if not the highest points tally. (7th doesn't seem that low this season does it - or is that Roy just lowering my expectations)
I was never a RCDNW member but he could have done a whole lot better than Roy who can't do anything right.
Sorry if I appear abrupt and angry its just that I am.

the whole rafa debate really sums it up for me:
a lot of our fans have been firmly living in the past for far too long. it's held us back when we refused to embrace the premier league era.
we're so focused on our past and that we've failed to move forward.
rafa's gone. the ones who appointed roy are gone, too.
new owners, new men in power, new vision - there's no point dwelling on the past. if's and but's shouldn't come into it.
what matters is the present and the future. roy's the present but he's clearly not the future.
cut henry some slack and let him do his research. this time we should get the right man in for all the right reasons.

Don't get me wrong I don't think Rafa was the answer I just felt we should have stuck with him until new owners came in. We were in a position of extreme weakness when we looked for a replacement.
What we need at the club now is a fresh start, a new young manager who can work with a team to take us forward with fresh new ideas.

Top post. As much as it stil irks me that we got rid of Rafa for this saggy faced, chin scratching, woefully inept shambles of an impostor of a manager, it would be madness to bring him back.
We have to look and indeed move forward
