I thought it was interesting to hear Henry refer to him as 'Rafa' as opposed to 'Benitez' or even 'the previous manager'. The implied familiarity got the conspiracy wheels in my head a whirling.

I must say, and I don't really care about being rational or any such thoughts, but I'd absolutely love it if Rafa came back. It even makes me feel better about LFC and warmer towards football in general just thinking about it.

And true enough, JWH did refer to him as Rafa . It's happening. it's on.

Part of me wants Rafa to come back because it will show the media that Henry and NESV will take the decisions they think are right and won't be swayed by our (Britain's) media but another part thinks he get hounded so much that it won't be given a chance to work because whoever they bring in will need 2-3 years

.Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed he wants to bring in some fresh faces to Anfield when the transfer window reopens.

The former Fulham boss assumed control of the Merseysiders last summer and made four signings, but he has failed to win over the club's faithful.

Hodgson does not feel that the squad he inherited from Rafa Benitez is his own yet and he wants to time to stamp his authority onto the Liverpool team.

The 63-year-old would like the time some managers have been afforded elsewhere and does not feel he can be critiqued until he is able to have all of his own chess pieces in place.

Hodgson now says he would like to do some 'good business' in the New Year in order to help move the prestigious club up the Premier League ladder.

"It is starting to feel more like my side," explained Hodgson. "But it is still a team that I have not put together. I want to make that clear. I took the team over and I have not made that many changes.

"I brought in [Paul] Konchesky to play left-back, Raul Meireles to replace [Javier] Mascherano and Joe Cole came in at the same time as me as well as Christian Poulsen. The other players I have inherited.

"I think I would be a good comparison with Tottenham because Harry [Redknapp] came in there just as I came into Fulham so he will just be completing three years and he has brought in a lot of players. So to really call it my team, I would have had to make a slightly bigger impact on those who have been brought in.

"I am more than happy to take responsibility for this squad but it takes a coach more than five or six months to make his stamp on a club.

"I am hoping we will do some good business in transfer windows to come and then I will be able say, 'If you don't like it then I have no one to blame but myself'."

We should bring him back just to piss everyone else off, such as fleet street and Sky. I reckon someone like patrick barclay would likely explode if Rafa came back and started doing well

Rafa is much maligned by the press and opposition fans, but we know him better than anyone else. Without doubt he is a world class manager and if given time and backing, there is no doubt he would get things right at Liverpool.

There is no manager out there who is not a gamble, it seems like all the safer bets would not come (Jose & Gus). All the names who are real possibles seem highly inexperienced. Surely a gamble on Rafa would be better than taking a gamble on the quality of manager.

And let's not forget, Rafa understands the club. That is just as important as any other aspect. His weakest point IMO was always the player recruitment side of things, he would no longer get complete freedom in that area and his coaching ability ofwhich he excels would be his main job.

I think towards the end Rafa took on to much work. Let him concentrate on the coaching and we'd be on to a winner.
