Whatever way you loom at it, it's hardly a vote of confidence in Roy is it. I think he'll be moved on. It's probably a question of identifying the right replacement. And I imagine there's a reasonable chance that we may have to wait until the Summer to bring him in (although lets hope not for all our sakes!).K ris90210

Under-pressure Roy Hodgson aims to strengthen his Liverpool position tonight after the arrival of Damien Comolli.
Hodgson, 63, is battling to save his job as manager after a dire start to the season left Liverpool languishing 13th in the Premier League.
Liverpool have secured back-to-back slender victories in the top-flight to ease Hodgson's plight ahead of champions Chelsea's visit this weekend.
But now the Reds' new US owners New England Sports Ventures, who took over last month, have hired Comolli from St Etienne.
Comolli, a former scout at Arsenal and director of football at Tottenham, will be charge of player recruitment and development.
His arrival as director of football strategy is the first major backroom appointment at Anfield by NESV principal owner John Henry.
But Hodgson insists he can work with Comolli and says the Frenchman will not trigger his exit ahead of tonight's Europa League visit by Napoli.
"We will wait and see but I'm happy with the appointment and I have no problems with it at all," claimed ex-Inter Milan manager Hodgson.
"It is something we talked about with owners.
"I come from a background in Europe where it is common.
"The new owners do not want that model where one man, whether that be me or Comolli or anybody else, has all the cards in his hand and can decide everything that happens at the club.
"But even managers who don't have the set-up we are setting up here, they all have someone they lean on and take advice from."
Comolli joined Tottenham in 2005 where he worked under Martin Jol and Juande Ramos before being dismissed when Ramos's reign ended in October 2008.
He was credited with bringing several brilliant young prospects to White Hart Lane like current superstar Gareth Bale.
But Hodgson insists he must have the final say on the club's transfer targets and team selection if his relationship with Comolli is to work.
He added: "As far as I know there's never been a sporting director who had a large input on team selection and on transfers.
"I would be surprised if managers and coaches of the class of Martin Jol and Juande Ramos just took players on someone else's recommendation, I don't know but it wont happen here.
"Maybe it will and if that day comes God Forbid I will deal with it but it's certainly not the idea behind his appointment I do know that for certain."
Comolli's arrival is still another potential headache for Hodgson though as he battles to show NESV he deserves to remain in charge.
He has already had to deal with a blistering attack by his Anfield predecessor Rafa Benitez this week.
The Spaniard hit out after Hodgson complained at inheriting a big and unbalanced squad.
But Hodgson responded: "If I have upset him by saying something which I didn't mean to be in any way critical or negative about his work at the club then I will happily apologise.
"There was never any intention on my part to do that."
Hodgson's side are unbeaten in three games after drawing 0-0 away in Naples before beating Blackburn and Bolton.
Ex-Fulham boss Hodgson added: "I am not prepared to talk about turning corners.
"There have been signs in many of the games we are beginning to find our feet and the team is beginning to gel together.
"But we have to keep working to make up ground because we lost a lot of ground by a very poor start.
"We have just about got ourselves a platform but we will need a lot more results before that platform is as high as we want it to be."

PotentiallyOriginally posted by JHP View PostI will happen longer term but I'm not convinced it's imminent.
My (potentially controversial) view is that for some people it's a case of: if I wish hard enough and keep saying it then it will happen. Others stopped doing that before they reached their teens.

I'm with you - I don't think this is a sign Dodger is out the door next week.Originally posted by JHP View PostI will happen longer term but I'm not convinced it's imminent.

I know what you mean but I think calling it "wishful thinking" is possibly a less provocative way of saying it..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

No, I didn't.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostNigelLG has had a strange feeling about Didier Deschamps. Apparently he got it while Didier was trending on ****ter.
I think I talked about him 4 or 5 weeks ago, just before Hicks & Gillett were ousted. There was a report in one of the newspapers (I think it was The Guardian) which said that Purslow & Co. had a meeting with him (amongst other candidates, Pellegrini and their favourite, Dodgson). Deschamps confirmed that this meeting took place.
Deschamps fits the bill in terms of age and he's vastly experienced in the sense that he's been a well respected player during his time at Juventus and his tenure as captain of l'Equipe de France. I think he'll do well and relate well with the players.
Next to Laurent Blanc, Deschamps is an institution in French football. Him coming from Marseille, a strong multi-cultural city, does help in that especially if you look at the political situation there. Are we winning?

I withdraw my remark and apologise undeservedly..

Yeah I felt a bit grumpy this morning but it was also a bit tongue in cheek.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI'm with you - I don't think this is a sign Dodger is out the door next week.
