I posted this on YNWA a couple of weeks back but to summarise: I've been told that Carra is 'obsessed' with beating Callaghans appearance record. He also was **** scared he'd end up a a 3rd tier club if Rafa had stayed as he knew his legs are gone and no decent club would give him a look-in. I was also told that Rafa was more pissed off with Purslow for giving in than with Carra for **** stirring. Carra was only thinking of himself but the CEO should've been thinking about the club.

I'm no itk and this is the only story i've ever got a snippet of! My source? - a journo who recently interviewed Rafa. I choose to believe him.

Not too fussed about the money (although the ~£800k a place would be useful), but that would be our worse top flight finish since we got relegated in 1954!!

Ok, I'll be a bit clearer then. By getting knocked out of the European Cup, FA Cup etc and our league position last year Rafa gave the board justified (for the sake of this one argument, not a broad discussion based on prior performance) means to seek his dismissal. Had he finished 4th that wouldn't have existed. It's easier to get rid of someone and to take dissenting opinions on board when performances aren't there to refute that.

So, just to be clear, what I said was regardless of how big your balls are if performances aren't there then you leave yourself open to arrack from others. That's what happened to Rafa. And that was my point. Had we finished 4th there is no way on earth the board could have got rid. We finished 7th so they felt they could get away with it.

Right, so Rafa guaranteeing us 4th spot and finishing 7th and being beaten by lower league teams in the domestic cups had nothing to do with him being sacked!

Blimey, what a cunt I am for saying that those were some of the reasons that got him sacked and add to that his constant bickering about the owners(which was right but no owner likes to be slagged off by his employer).
