    2. Any players bought in Jan have to be for the long term. No panic buys. No short term buys.

    3. Any players bought have to be value for money. We're not going to overpay.

    4. We're going to try to strengthen selectively, so that we can try achieve our objectives for this season, but only if they can improve the team in the long term too.

But still, I want us to strengthen the team in such a way that will let use more productive tactics (high line, more pressing, etc.) I don't want Hodgson to improve our effectiveness at keeping deep lines, standing off and hoofing.
While I agree about strengthening the squad, planning for the long term and buying the right players, if we keep Hodgson I could see our squad becoming significantly weaker in January with players wanting to leave, and while I believe no-one is bigger than the club, it could be catastrophic if we were to let some good/promising young players go because they have fallen out with some stop gap manager.

We need rid of Hodgson now!
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yes. Hodgson must go. The way he has us playing, and the things he says, he isn't the future. But we don't want to get any old tit in as a manager. We've done that once already and look where we are.

I would have bet good money that if we still had Rafa, our results would have been better and we'd be fighting in the top four places now. But that's just my opinion. Rafa is a ship that has sailed. And water has flowed under the burnt remains of bridges. It's not gonna happen, but I do wonder how quickly he'd jump at the chance at a return if NESV made him an offer.

        Hodgson receives backing from Henry

Liverpool owner John W Henry has leapt to the defence of under-pressure manager Roy Hodgson following last weekend's shocking 2-0 Premier League loss at Stoke City.

The Merseysiders appeared to be turning the corner after claiming ten points from a possible 12 prior to their aberration at the Britannia Stadium to help them into the top half of the table.

Many sceptics were calling for Hodgson to be removed in the Potteries, but the American supremo has now called for calm.

Henry, who fronts the New England Sports Ventures group that bought the Anfield giants from Tom Hicks George Gillett, has also hinted that a splurge in the January transfer market may not be the way to move forward.

"This club can be better and blaming the manager or any one particular player is simply wrong," Henry said.

"This club needs to play up to their potential every match. If they don't, they won't win.

"We have work to do and must invest in this club to improve it on the field. Can that be successfully done in January?

"A number of people I've talked with doubt it. Most seem to think it will be the summer before we can really begin to improve. So all the players have to be on the same page and have to live up to the history and respect this club has engendered.

"The club has gone through a very difficult period and that period has not ended.

Think we're stuck with him until the end of the season chap.

Such a shame because with a new Manager and a few additions in Jan, i wouldn't have ruled out 4th place. No chance of it with Roy at the helm, no chance.

I do hope Henry's being just a bit duplicitous here - because otherwise he's deluded about Woy and we're completely fekked this season. I completely understand the plea for patience alleged anti splurge policy, but he seems to be defending the indefensible.

It looks like it's from http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football...rom_Henry.aspx

Right now I understand Henry's position. They cannot be seen to not support the manager ... officially at least. To say anything else would instantly undermine the manager, the team and would unleash the British press on ourselves like a pack of rabid wolves.

NESV do not want to unnecessarily back themselves into a corner that would see themselves having to sack Hodgson in haste and appoint someone else in equal haste. They are treading the proverbial water, buying themselves enough time to find and make the right appointment as manager. For us as supporters it's happening all too slowly, me included (I was livid after our loss at Stoke on Saturday), but my brain can also see the wisdom of patience.

Hodgson in the meantime is doing a grand job of undermining himself both on the pitch and off it. The media are starting to clue into this line of thinking. But NESV will only ditch Hodsgon for an interim appointment if the situation becomes truly desperate.

What does Roy Hodgson want for Xmas? A **** house striker and a threesome with Poulsen & Konchesky. I'd settle for the threesome.
