If they knew Roy was on the way out you would think they would put the effort in to secure 4th spot. Too many players going missing tbh. With an on form Torres alone we'd be top 4 now.

Gerrard & Carragher were sounded out in the February or March and asked their opinion on a replacement for HoullierOriginally posted by calvoboy View PostDid they? I wasn't aware of that. I knew they'd talked to them about appointing him before the deal was done, but thought it was a quick word once houllier was gone rather than months before.
Gerrard recommended Curbishley if I remember rightly (according to his book)
Again paraphrasing from his book Gerrard said he was chuffed when he was asked his opinion of Benitez as a managerBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Interesting, as I heard from a pretty decent source last week that NESV wanted Villas Boas. If so then he wouldn't leave Porto mid-season, so it would fit with senior players having been told and with NESV manoeuvring behind the scenes. Could just be two rumours colliding though.Originally posted by Lecter View PostGerrard & Carragher were sounded out in the February or March and asked their opinion on a replacement for Houllier

Also I would have thought that if it is/was the case that the players know Roy is leaving at the end of the season. Then I'm suprised that the club haven't made more of the arrival of someone like Damien Comolli, and told them that he will be assessing the players and making recomendations on who should stay and who should go to the new manager when he arrives. Hopefully something like this would motivate the players.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIf they knew Roy was on the way out you would think they would put the effort in to secure 4th spot. 1. We don't know whether or not the players are lacking motivation.
2. Even if we did we don't know whether that means they hate the manager, know he's on the way out, fear we're stuck with him, etc.
It's just guesswork on top of speculation based on assumption, fear and wishful thinking..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Reports are starting to come in that Frank Rijkaard is almost certain to replace Roy Hodgson as the next Liverpool manager.
Money has flooded in to some bookies in recent days and now William Hill go massive odds on that Rijkaard will be named as the next manager at Anfield.
Money forces prices down and there is no way that Hills would have such short odds unless significant money had been placed on Rijkaard, add this to the comments from Rijkaard’s agent about managing Liverpool and some reports in the Dutch media that meetings have already taken place and you have a scenario building that has the writing on the wall for current manager Roy Hodgson.
Another factor is that the new owners will be loathe to give a manager money to spend in the January transfer window if they are going to let him go and despite improved performances in recent weeks Liverpool still find themselves stuck mid table.
The end game for Hodgson now looks to be in play and with the bookies, media and agents all more or less stating that Rijkaard is to be the next Liverpool manager it does appear that it is now just a matter of time.
