We played **** but not even close as **** as we do this season. Even when we played **** we played a system that gave us the chance to win every single game, home and away. We didn't lose two games in a row in the PL the last eight months or so last season.

Now we play a system that don't work at all when someone pressure us all over the pitch. Every single team that pressured us all over the pitch have dominated against us.

I'd love to know who these 20-22 players are

Maxi Rodriguez is a very intelligent player. Despite the fact I do not speak Spanish and he doesn't speak that much English, we've always had a good understanding together.

And it was Villa, not West Ham. Dumb *******s

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Yep. There's a difference between playing **** due to failure to play well and embracing the ****.

Hodgson seems to change his opinion of the squad with each passing interview. There's too many, there's too few. There's quality, there's a lack of quality.

Everything he says annoys me. That slightly old-fashioned, pseudo-intellectual style of speaking he has really pisses me off.

"We didn't get the results at the beginning but I never doubted we would become a more solid team. It was just a question of when our quality players would bring their quality to bear."

I have seen bits and pieces of his latest interview in few other threads but not the entire one.

So for others that want to read some more of Roy's jewels...

Hodgson: We're seeing the real Meireles now

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson believes Raul Meireles is now finding his feet in the Premier League and beginning to make an impact.

The former Porto midfielder was an influential figure in the victory against Aston Villa on Monday after making a slow start to his Anfield career.

Hodgson said: "With Raul Meireles, it was always just a question of time. He came from a different league but I never doubted his quality as a player.

"I always knew we'd get something out of him because of his exceptional ability. I'm sure we'll get even more out of him now, with the more games he plays as he settles more and more into life in England."

Hodgson is convinced his side, who face Newcastle on Saturday, have enough time to claim a place in the Champions League.

"We'd like to think so, " he told liverpoolfc.tv. "But when you start as badly as we did then it's sensible for us to keep our feet on the ground.

"We are in something of a rebuilding process. As many as 20 to 22 players have left since I arrived here and very few have come in.

"But right from the beginning I've had the impression that the players are behind the work we are trying to do.

"We didn't get the results at the beginning but I never doubted we would become a more solid team. It was just a question of when our quality players would bring their quality to bear."

Hodgson is pleased with the form of both Maxi Rodriguez and Glen Johnson, the England full-back who was criticised by the manager last month for his poor performances.

Hodgson added: "Maxi Rodriguez is a very intelligent player. Despite the fact I do not speak Spanish and he doesn't speak that much English, we've always had a good understanding together.

"He knows what I want and I've been happy to see him do it on the field."

Hodgson added: "Glen Johnson is now different to the Glen Johnson we saw at the beginning. He's playing with confidence and is doing extremely well.

"It's the same with Fernando Torres recently. He's different to the one in the opening games. Now we are working together every day and we are seeing better team performances."

This is a snippet from Ancelloti after Chelsea's game, it highlights how positive he is compared to Hodgson. I'm not going on the rampage here btw I'm simply trying to illustrate a point more than anything.

We have to come back. I'm not low, I'm strong. I want to resolve this quickly and I am focused on my job," he said.

"I think my players have that same focus - I'm sure they have. We have a lot of players with fantastic character and personality."

Chelsea's poor form in the league has seen them slip from league leaders to third in the table.

However, until Wednesday that had not been replicated in Europe, where they had already enjoyed five wins out of five to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages before taking on Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

Although the pressure was off, the problems the Blues have been suffering domestically were again in evidence against the French side, and a stuttering display showed a lack of confidence that was eventually punished by Brandao's 81st-minute winner.

Following the defeat Ancelotti admitted he was under no illusions about the state his team find themselves in.

"I'm worried just because we're not doing our best," he said. "This is the problem. We have to do better. I would like the team to move on quickly from this moment.

"It's not a good moment. The bad moment continues, but we have to keep going. We've lost some confidence in our play.

"Now we have to come back, keep going and look forward. We have a great opportunity to do that against Tottenham [on Sunday] - a difficult game away against a top team."
