No, I dont think we did have enough last year- certainly not with the injuries we had & the poor form/attitude of Gerrard. I think Rafa shouldve done better last year, but I hold the owners & players far more culpable. No way would I have sacked him after 1 bad season, it's the biggest mistake this club has made in the last 20 years (off-field issues aside). I'd rather have sacrificed any of the players who had a problem with him- SG included (if he did).

I also think that Rafa was sacked for political reasons, finishing 7th simply allowed the Yanks to make it happen more easily.

BUT, I've been through this a million times & there's (understandably) a forum request to stop talking about it. (I've clarified my viewpoint for your benefit, but dont want to discuss it further).

An LFC manager should enable the squad to overachieve, whatever its standard, so Bodge's minimum is 6th IMO cos that's how I see our squad. However, that'd only mean I'd accept him as a decent manager (falling short of Evans & Houllier, who I dont think were in the same league as Rafa) - and not one good enough for us.

Any top side requires excellence (not just satisfacory standards) from board, management & coaching staff & players. You need everthing in your favour you can get.

True, I'm just saying that the if (and that's a big if) we win the Newcastle game that (and our current form) doesn't represent such a remarkable turnaround as some seem to suggesting. Because our 'good run' has come at a time when we are playing some poor teams, and IMO this is no coincidence.

Wether or not our squad is good enough for 4th depends on injuries. It's not good enough to cope with a lot of injuries. But we haven't been that badly hit this year injury wise.

Looking at are injury record and looking at the Premier league table, I would expect us to be at the very least close to Man City, not 6 points off as we are.

As for Roy, big test against Newcastle. He's only managed three league wins in a row once this season. Beat Newcastle and we should have enough for our following home game and then you never know.

Mentioned something about us 'only' being 10 points off top spot - and taking great joy in telling everyone how, at the same stage last season, we were 13 points off top spot.

"They're closer" remarked Gray, in that emphatic tone that he has, which tries to tap the viewer on the shoulder and say 'Hey listen, I am serious'. "Oh yes, closer" added Keys, in a 'chimp desperately trying to please his master' style. The cringe factor was only exceeded by the interview they conducted with Hodgson.
