No way - they won't want to be seen as dodging the issue. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have a line which they stick to. Something like 'we believe that Roy needs to be given time to turn things around, and recent performances are justifying that decision.'Originally posted by chadrtc View PostThe questions will be vetted, i'd be amazed if there are any about the bodge's future.
Let's be honest, before the session is even conducted we know what the answers will be:
Transfers - if we can identify value in the market then we will bring in players. If we can't, we'll wait for the summer.
Youth - the priority will be on developing young players, a la Arsenal.
New manager - see above.
Stadium - still no decision. Will take time to get it right. Against shared stadium.
Commolli - He will help build consensus and was brought in to assist the manager.
CEO - the search is ongoing and announcement will be made at the appropriate time.
Selling best players - we want to win and as such want to keep our best players.
I'd be very surprised if anything too different comes out of it. Saying that, 2 hours seems like a very long time to give a live interview!K ris90210

This is what i'm thinking too - but if it's 'live' how can they control it?Originally posted by chadrtc View PostThe questions will be vetted, i'd be amazed if there are any about the bodge's future.
Unless it's 'submit your questions and we call you back' - and they're the ones who go on live tv.
So they can choose who they want to call back - the people with the 'easy' questions.
Hmmm....

At which point, a savvy caller would just say "Well, you came here and couldnt stress enough how much you wanted to LISTEN to the fans and take their feelings on board - 95% of fans from online polls across numerous forums have said they want the manager sacked immediately, so doesnt your response indicate that you're not in fact listening to the fans concerns?"Originally posted by kris90210 View PostBut I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have a line which they stick to. The thing is that 'listening to the fans concerns' isn't necessarily the same as doing what they say. Sometimes I'm led to believe people on internet forums chat **** and a mob mentality has been known to lead to sub-optimal decision making.
Plenty of people in and around football seem to think that Roy is doing a good job. I completely disagree but it is certainly a possibility I'm wrong.
Just the other day Kenny Dalglish claimed, before the match, that our game against Villa would be a competition between 'two attacking teams' I believe. I'd imagine he counts as a fan and one who is quite hard to ignore. I disagree with him too.
I also think that a change for changes sake is probably no better than Roy. We are looking to progress the club long term rather than short. Without looking at an array of options and putting into place a long term strategy then we might end up having a rapid succession of managers none of whom really get to build the team/squad/infrastructure. To some degree we do need stability and a steady hand and coll head at the top of the club rather than someone prone to Ashleyesque capriciousness."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

You're not wrong though, and neither are the 95% of fans who want rid.
End of the day (and i say this to anyone who questions my desire to see him go), it's only fans of the club, who see 90 mins of every match, who are properly in a position to judge. Fans who have watcjhed their club for years and years, know entirely what their club and team is capable of, both in the positive sense and the negative one. Fans know better than anyone, they know better than any pundit, owner or journalist.
People speak about the 'mess than Benitez left' and what-not, rightly or wrongly, but only the people who actually WATCH the matches, can make an informed judgement.
It's not JUST about results - although they certainly arent good enough.
It's more about the fact that, in our 16 league games this season, Liverpool have only been the better side in about 4 or 5 of them.
That's is so emphatically far from acceptable, that it is almost surreal.
Whether NESV 'know' football enough to recognise this is completely independent from its validity.

You're obviously right about the fans being in the best position to judge. I agree with you. But it's a fans level of passion which also makes it hard not to make decisions on impulse.
We ALL want Roy out. Of course we do. But at any cost? No, I don't think so. If the 'right' man is not available till the summer, and the 'right' caretaker is not available, then we just have to ride this season out.
Personally speaking, I think the new owners have behaved impeccably since they arrived.K ris90210

At the game, and in the immediate aftermath, of course passion can skew things, but in the cold light of day, even a passionate football fan is easily capable of making an accurate judgement.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostI agree with DWW's previous post.

We can ride out this season for sure, of course we can. I'm sure we'll all miss Torres when he goes.
Will a new manager guarantee the improvement needed to keep him? No.
Could things get much worse under a new manager? Possibly, but doubtful.
Would it be worth a try, at least? **** yes.

This has probably been mentioned, but we've heard quotes from Comolli talking about what makes a Liverpool player. NESV have met with fan groups, fan forums, and they seem to be taking advice from Kenny, all to find more out about Liverpool and how we do things. With this being the case, I don't see why they would sack a manager mid-way through the seasonSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

So what, you think if we don't replace Hodgson yesterday then Torres will go? To be honest, I'd rather Torres left than we as a club pander to him.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAt the game, and in the immediate aftermath, of course passion can skew things, but in the cold light of day, even a passionate football fan is easily capable of making an accurate judgement.

Could things get worse under a new manager? You said yourself, possibly. Then there is the cost of sacking Roy. The potential upheval of replacing key staff. All this and then most likely having to do it again in the summer. We have actually improved of late. Let's see if we can continue to improve eh, rather than plunging ourselves back into a world of uncertainty.
I'd rather see us stick with Roy until the right person is available. Add the money saved to the transfer kitty.
Of course, if the right manager was out there and we could bring him in right away then that would be the dream scenario. It doesn't seem to be the case.
I would also be for a good caretaker manager coming in - Dalglish. Of course, there are plenty of people who are against that, and with very valid reasons.
Anyway, what do we really know? For all we know Dalglish could have been sounded out for the role and rejected it. NESV are conducting their business behind closed doors. Something we've all been craving - a return to 'the liverpool way.' We're just going to have to be patient.K ris90210
