I think if we were all told today that Roy was getting sacked tomorrow and we were bringing in mr X as manager we'd all likely be pleased as it was the end of Hodgson.
However.
If Roy was to get the sack tomorrow completely out of the blue to us and we were told the owners will now take a couple of weeks to find a replacement......
Would we still be happy if we were then told that mr X was getting the job? I'm not so sure myself. I think many choices are being made by people on the sense that they'd take anyone within reason at this point in time.
Some of the names being thrown about at present - if those names (or ones of a similar standing back then) had been mentioned when Houllier had got the sack, they'd have been dismissed without question. We may not be in the Champions League now, but we are in a better position off the field. So why should we even be considering some of the hum drum possibilities now?
Tbh, I've been guilty of it myself. And its annoying. I don't want to settle for an average manager. I want a top class appointment and nesv should be thinking the same.Forwards.......

I think most people did. What I find hypocritical is that a few people on here wanted him sacked last season, and in a mater of a few months they're ready to welcome him back with open arms as some sort of second coming. Pathetic really.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI think most people did. Not a big majority, but most if I remember the polls correctly.

Circumstances change. What I'd call pathetic is people not wiliing to admit they're wrong. But as I said, circumstances change. I think the major worry at the end of last season was going into Rafa for another season could be pretty much suicide. His battles with the owners were over shadowing everything and could have ended up derailing any potential takeover and any decent chance we had of top 4.Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostWhat I find hypocritical is that a few people on here wanted him sacked last season, and in a mater of a few months they're ready to welcome him back with open arms as some sort of second coming. Since the end of last season, we've had new owners come in, the single biggest reason for the removal of Rafa.
Would Rafa have disputes with the new owners? Only if he was given promises that they failed to deliver on. Which has been the case at his last three clubs. I don't think Nesv are stupid enough to give out broken promises. Plus added to the fact I think Rafa would seriously consider coming back under most circumstances, if only for his familys sake who loved Merseyside and were very settled in the area.Forwards.......

Circumstances may have changed but he's still the same manager isn't he? He would still aproach the games in the same way, tactics would be the same so if he wasn't good enough (for some people here) last season, why would he be good enough now?Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostCircumstances change. And while Comolli is still at Liverpool, Rafa would have a dispute with the new owners.

Rafa isnt coming back imo, but it will really put pressure on NESV
Here are 2 posts from RAWK
If NESV aren't interested in rehiring Rafa, and I suspect they're not, then a friendly, concise statement to that effect might be nice. Otherwise I can see the speculation becoming crippling. Interesting to see how they play it, as either way its a PR hot potato, especially given we have our worst manager in my lifetime in the role at present. Each bad result will increase the clamour and attract more pleas to re-employ Rafa. They may well already have someone in mind, but keeping Roy and all his flaws in the meantime just got harder.I think the owners, who will no doubt soon be aware of Rafa's situation now have a problem on their hands.
If Rafa has been sacked, and is not just here on holiday, then the clamour amongst some for him to be reinstated may well become very noisy, attracting media attention and placing even more pressure on Hodgson.
The only way that NESV can halt this is to make a clear, unambiguous statement that the managerial position is not going to be reviewed this season and that they look forward to working with him to improve the club blah, blah.......
Hodgsons position has already been undermined by the calls for Dalglish to be reinstated, if that is taken over by calls for Rafa as well, his position will be untenable.
If NESV dont want that to happen they will need to work fast to stop it,
It will be interesting to see what they do.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Much as the way the ownership problems unravelled, you can't help but think this situation is about to come to a head.Originally posted by Lecter View PostRafa isnt coming back imo, but it will really put pressure on NESV

I can't believe NESV can come out and offer Roy their complete backing. Leaving the other option, which is, well, who knows. But it has just got a hell of a lot more interesting.
If we were half as exciting on the pitch as we are off it we;d be ****ing dynamite.
Modifying post.

i would still back mr x to do a better job than Roy and Malcolm has been dead for 50 years !!
