Not the best image, granted - but I can't access anything that *moves* (a la YouTube) at work.

Zorba the Greek going in two footed, Fellaini leaving the ground.

I stand corrected then, i just remember one lunging in and one jumping and stamping...too much hair flying around for me to remember all the details.

Soto got a deserved red card (two foot lunges always are read) but Fellaini got his just desserts too, out for 6 months after injuring himself.

Only cos refs bottle the decision. Intent is there, the red should be given. No contact has to be made in order for a foul to be commited.

Typo or Roy is losing his memory

Roy Hodgson hails Liverpool FC’s head boy Sotirios Kyrgiakos

ROY HODGSON has backed Sotirios Kyrgiakos to become Liverpool’s head boy as he hailed the Greek defender’s impressive vein of form.

Kyrgiakos capped a Man-of-the-Match performance in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers with his second goal of the season but, with better fortune, he could have ended up with a hat-trick.

He has relished getting on the end of Steven Gerrard’s set pieces and the Liverpool skipper has spoken in glowing terms about Kyrgiakos, as he knows whenever he tosses a ball into the box, the former Rangers man is an odds-on favourite to meet it.

With that in mind, Hodgson thinks Kyrgiakos can become a potent weapon this season and is hoping for more of the same when the Reds travel to Bolton this Sunday.

“He is doing very well for us at the minute in both boxes,” said Hodgson. “He is making our corner kicks look a hell of a lot better but we should really be doing much better at corners because we have got one of the best deliverers of a ball (Gerrard) around.

“You can see that Soto really wants to get his head on it. He is like the way Tony Adams used to be and, before that, Jackie Charlton or how John Terry is now. Its’s not that they have got clever movement or they jump higher, they just want to get there.”

Hodgson, meanwhile, has given an upbeat assessment about Dirk Kuyt’s recovery from ankle ligament damage and it could be that the Holland international will be in line to make his comeback in the televised showdown against Chelsea on November 7.

“Dirk is making incredible progress,” said Kuyt. “A lot of boys who are tough professionals and love to play get themselves back quicker.

“Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora injured their shoulders just as Pepe (Reina) did here and the physios told me that it could be four to six weeks but every one of them were back in two.

“Dirk is in the category of those who recover quickly and you can see that he wants to get back.

We admire him enormously and we know he has done very well for the club during his time at the club. I am hoping he’s going to do very well for me, too.”

If Kuyt’s rehabilitation has gone like clockwork, the same cannot be said of Glen Johnson, whose hamstring problem has caused some confusion but, that said, there is still a chance he could feature at the Reebok.

“Glen has got a funny injury at the minute, meaning that we are finding it difficult to really get to the cause of the problem,” said Hodgson.

“We think it is more neural than muscular. We can’t really find the muscular issue but he feels that when he stretches out, there is still something there.

“But he is working hard at it and I think he is approaching a time when he will be fit. He could possibly be ready for the weekend. It might be as close as that. I would certainly be disappointed if it went much further than that.”

Ryan Babel was added to the sick bay on Tuesday when damaging his ribs in the reserves’ 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield but it is not a major problem,

“Babel took a nasty whack in the ribs but, luckily, there is nothing broken or cracked,” said Hodgson. “It’s bruising and it will be painful but it is a question of how much pain he can take.”

oooh...and.....Aldo was first...with this. It's deserved credit anyway...he seems so very at home here, even in training he seems a big part of what go's on.

John Aldridge: Sotirios Krygiakos is showing more lauded Liverpool FC team mates the way forward

                Oct 26 2010 Liverpool Echo

IF there is one thing Liverpool supporters want to see, it’s absolute commitment to the cause.

It doesn’t matter if they are not the most skilful or the quickest, so long as they can be seen wanting to make a difference, that is all that matters.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos, man-of-the-match once again on Sunday, deserved every plaudit that came his way.

He is quickly becoming something of a cult hero and the great thing about him is that he doesn’t leave anything behind when he plays.

Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel supposedly have that class edge on him but his performances are putting them comfortably in the shade.

Kyrgiakos and Skrtel are doing well in the centre, but it is Kyrgiakos who is the dominant figure.

Skrtel needs to cut out the tendency to dive in and stay on his feet more. He could learn something off his partner.

He has been decent and we needed him to do the job he's done but he was a **** signing, Craig, and you bloody well know it.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

We would never signed him if we're not skint. Having said that, he exceeded pretty much everybody's expectations and turned out to be a very good buy.

Only because everyone's expectations were rock bottom.

I can't see for the life of me how we progress and evolve as a football club with a 30 year old as 4th choice in any position.
I'll happily admit Soto is playing well now but that is more a damning inditment on our play and circumstances that we are relying on him.

Man U with Evans or Smalling
                            Arsenal with Djourou
                            Chelsea with Mancianne
Tottenham have a lad called Caulker who is going to be a really good player
Man City played a young lad earlier in the season but can't remember his name.

All those clubs are planning for the future and easing young players in here and there, we're going backwards ffs because Roy can't trust Kelly at home to Blackburn then comes out in the press comparing Carragher to Carlos ****ing Alberto.
The same Jamie Carragher who refused to play right back for Rafa away to Middlesborough when we lost 2-0.

If Roy wants to play Soto then fine, drop Carragher or Skrtel and play Kelly at right back
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Why does a backup centre back need to be younger than Soto. When he needs replacing he'll be replaced, either by a new purchase or by one of our reserves or youth players. Soto has been far better than meh this year, he's finding some good form so let's give the guy the credit that is due and be glad he's pushing our other CBs for a first team place.
