This! So similar to last season. And if we have another false hope, with a new CEO in charge surely the big boys up top need to take some serious action, if only they could compare what happened last season and how similar that fact is.

A better manager would get more out of these players

Last season we were poor and Rafa was blamed for losing the dressing room and under performing with the squad we had - thats fair enough

So who should we blame now?

The players? the squad or the manager who isnt motivating them? A manager whose tactics are hampering our players by preying on their flaws rather than playing on their strengths

Hodgson is bringing on Shelvey and Eccleston to prove a point about Comolli being appointed to bring better youth through, just like he did by bringing Shelvey and Spearing on late against Cheslea.
Jovanovich would have been a more sensible choice and provided better protection for Konchesky (protecting a 29 yr old LB ffs)

We will never, never, never achieve anything other than mid tabe mediocricy with Hodgson in charge.

It's unbelievable isn't it, if we had won last night we would have gone 5th, a couple of points away from Man C in 4th.
That's whats so frustrating, I hate Hodgson as our manager, can't watch him in interviews, hate the sight of him on the touchline realising he's just pissed himself again.
If only he had the guts to grab the opportunity to be Liverpool manager by the balls and send us out to actually try and win games he could leave a decent legacy of his year (at most) as manager because the league this season is so poor in quality he could finish higher than 7th and walk away with his pay off with everyone saying "see, told you the senile, incontinent one would do better than Rafa".

I don't know what is worse, seeing us play so **** or the frustration that we should be doing so much better with a little change in attitude

I don't disagree at all but the squad is lacking strength and depth (sorry, obvoius point). We just don't seem to have any particular strengths as a side...Manu have the width, Chelsea are strong down the middle and left, Arsenal have a quick passing style..we just seem to rely on a bit of luck and Torres to be on the end of it. Yes the manager should take a large portion of the blame for this for his ****house tactics and his **** signings but it wasn't that great either last season.

obviously the players need to take a large slice of the abuse here. how the **** they cannot Psyche themselves up for a wigan game is shocking. no game is bigger than any other game is the mentality they should have.

BUT roy needs to take an equally large slice of blame for failing to instill belief and hunger in them to beat a team like wigan.

we got lucky last night in that all the other results meant we lost no ground on 4th and the teams above us.

That may well be the case BUT Roys tactics are not condusive to going on winning runs

They are condusive to nicking a goal and clinging on for dear life

A better manager with a more forward thinking philosophy could have put us out of sight in games when we have struggled

Its the basics that are our problem ie no passion, no commitment, no pressing of the ball, no energy and far too passive

Its almost like a mirror image of Roy himself
