Special players?!Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostWasn't this reminiscent of last season too? Just when we thought we had turned the corner, we put on a performance worthy of the bargain basket.
Hodgson's tactics are **** yes but we if we're looking to win 7-8 games on the trot we need better personnel.
I think in the long run, showing our deficiencies now could be better rather than playing with momentum and then getting found out at a later stage.
The chances of playing poorly and winning are slim at them moment as we don't have enough special players. Hopefully, this is something nesv will look into for January.
While we do need some fresh blood, our squad should be enough to beat Wigan.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

A better manager would get more out of these playersOriginally posted by Maxiedge View PostWasn't this reminiscent of last season too? Just when we thought we had turned the corner, we put on a performance worthy of the bargain basket.

Last season we were poor and Rafa was blamed for losing the dressing room and under performing with the squad we had - thats fair enough
So who should we blame now?
The players? the squad or the manager who isnt motivating them? Hodgson is bringing on Shelvey and Eccleston to prove a point about Comolli being appointed to bring better youth through, just like he did by bringing Shelvey and Spearing on late against Cheslea.
Jovanovich would have been a more sensible choice and provided better protection for Konchesky (protecting a 29 yr old LB ffs)
We will never, never, never achieve anything other than mid tabe mediocricy with Hodgson in charge. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

rafa rightly carried the can when we were wank last year....and Roy should this year.
Not having any of that bollocks that this team is not good ebough. this team is capable of pissing 4th in this ****e league this year.
capable of winning 6 or 7 on the bounce easy. goes back to the old argument that we know we underperformered last year, so wttf we doing now?
its making my eyes bleed for sure._____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?

I think with the squad we have we can go on a run of winning 3 or 4 games, lets say, but anymore just seems to be asking too much, mentally if anything, as we don't have enough players who can produce a bit of magic when the legs are tired.Originally posted by Rich View PostSpecial players?!

It's unbelievable isn't it, if we had won last night we would have gone 5th, a couple of points away from Man C in 4th.Originally posted by red g View Postrafa rightly carried the can when we were wank last year....and Roy should this year.

That's whats so frustrating, I hate Hodgson as our manager, can't watch him in interviews, hate the sight of him on the touchline realising he's just pissed himself again.
If only he had the guts to grab the opportunity to be Liverpool manager by the balls and send us out to actually try and win games he could leave a decent legacy of his year (at most) as manager because the league this season is so poor in quality he could finish higher than 7th and walk away with his pay off with everyone saying "see, told you the senile, incontinent one would do better than Rafa".
I don't know what is worse, seeing us play so **** or the frustration that we should be doing so much better with a little change in attitudeThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I don't disagree at all but the squad is lacking strength and depth (sorry, obvoius point). We just don't seem to have any particular strengths as a side...Manu have the width, Chelsea are strong down the middle and left, Arsenal have a quick passing style..we just seem to rely on a bit of luck and Torres to be on the end of it. Yes the manager should take a large portion of the blame for this for his ****house tactics and his **** signings but it wasn't that great either last season.Originally posted by Lecter View PostA better manager would get more out of these players

obviously the players need to take a large slice of the abuse here. how the **** they cannot Psyche themselves up for a wigan game is shocking. no game is bigger than any other game is the mentality they should have.
BUT roy needs to take an equally large slice of blame for failing to instill belief and hunger in them to beat a team like wigan.
we got lucky last night in that all the other results meant we lost no ground on 4th and the teams above us.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Does Roy really tell the players to defend on their own goal line on e we've scored? I can't work out what the he'll is going on, but surely it's not as simple as Roy instructing us to defend a one nil lead for 80 mins, surely?! But then his record away suggests this might be the case. Just weird.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

It's madness based on the thinking from days when there were only 2 points for a win.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYep, of course he does. We visibly defend a good 15 yards or more deeper than we did last year.

That may well be the case BUT Roys tactics are not condusive to going on winning runsOriginally posted by Maxiedge View PostI think with the squad we have we can go on a run of winning 3 or 4 games, lets say, but anymore just seems to be asking too much, mentally if anything, as we don't have enough players who can produce a bit of magic when the legs are tired.
They are condusive to nicking a goal and clinging on for dear life
A better manager with a more forward thinking philosophy could have put us out of sight in games when we have struggled
Its the basics that are our problem ie no passion, no commitment, no pressing of the ball, no energy and far too passive
Its almost like a mirror image of Roy himselfBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
