Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I certainly know more than you mateOriginally posted by danperkins View Post
yeah i'm sure your well in the know mate.
That seems to be the basis of your posts on here, you think you more more than you do.

Legends have already been lost just look at some of the names who make it in all time XI's and some of the names that are missed off shockingOriginally posted by Marsh View Postin terms of legends lets see in 15 -20 years time who is considered to be and who isnt considered to be legends.
though i do wonder if some real legends will get lost as the interenet age is much more here and now and we tend to fall for the sky hype that is all encompassing.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Unfortunately he seems to have developed a ridiculous sense of his own importance just at the time his abilities have gone into sharp decline.
He's been average for a good three seasons now, is prone to making howlers more than any other of our defenders and always looks like a rash tackle and penalty-kick waiting to happen - and let's not even consider his abilities with the ball at his feet and his distribution (!)
His annoying habit of giving bollockings to team-mates is all the more annoying given his own frailties, which he seems to be blissfully unaware of.
I've seen people mention his work-rate and do-or-die attitude. Frankly, for £90K a week that's the absolute minimum requirement.
In a race between a cross-channel ferry, a combine harvester and Jamie Carragher to turn round, Carragher would come third
Come in number 23. You're time's up
about keeping thread sensible dww.
Red: Fair enough Carra has been bad this season, last season he did struggle, he is prone to shouting at others even when he makes mistakes, just in the nature of the man, but seriously Carra & Gerrard in particular have been nothing short of sensational for us for about a decade now. And all this for the most part surrounded by average players.
Each to their own opinion but Jamie Carragher has given everything to LFC, the guy has laid it on the line time after time after time. Truly loves the club and everything that is LFC. Wears his heart on his sleeve.
Jamie was never the most gifted of footballers and over the years has frustrated me with his hoof the ball effort but he is a defenders defender full stop, no frills, nothing fancy. 110% effort every game, fantastic leader and organizer, seen the guy make some of the most fantastic tackles i've ever seen.
Sure he might need to be replaced and used more sparingly, but i think the guy deserves more respect than what he has been given on this thread after what he has gave for the club "And The Fans", but each to their own

on the flipside we are lucky to have enough players for a good all time XI

It's not Carra FC either. Maybe when u grasp his point you'll find the logic behind the posts in this thead that seem to have irked you so.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThey are on the topic OAPNY, i just don't see the relevance is spouting out nonsense about a Liverpool F.C. Legend that may or may not be true. Stuff of rumours and gossip
Bit of respect for the man, its Liverpool F.C. not Rafa F.C.

i am not sure they have been sensational. They have been good maybe very good maybe very very good but there is a line between the good and the great.
i remember watching the galacticos and zidane stood head and shoulders above the others. He was a great figo etc merely good.
we are now assualted with how current is the best ever etc from sky and the like. However its worth remembering that the very very best stand out and i am not sure gerrard or carra have.
thats not to take away what they have done or to say they were bad players very far from it but i dont beleive that they are all time greats of world football.
also footballers are selfish and the sooner us as fans realise this the easier it will be when they do something we dont like.
they think of themselves first and in their position i am not sure that it would be easier to do anything else.
though that selfishness does allow them to do things for charity etc so its not all bad.

Had to stop reading, no offense but with what both players especially Steven Gerrard has done and achieved at LFC that is just plain insulting. Certainly only a few defenders fall into this category.Originally posted by Marsh View Posti am not sure they have been sensational. They have been good maybe very good maybe very very good but there is a line between the good and the great.

...and Carra is no Hansen (8 league titles, 3 European Cups, 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups).
Also back in the Hansen Dalglish days players earned f**k all by modern standards. They played to earn a living and were not overnight millionaires, hence the reason most off them have to survive with jobs earning in the media etc.
Maybe I am just old.Modifying post.

if you look at some of the CHs is carra in the top 3? Hansen, Lawro, being possibly the best two. then thommo and smith off the top of my head.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostCertainly only a few defenders fall into this category.
