but the windows don't exist in a vacuum. maybe 50m of it came from the torres sale, but that's not pretend money. the point is, if i sell torres for 50m and then i spend 50m in the market, no matter where that money comes from, i want to have 50m worth of players at the end of the day. if you make 50 million in the market and spend it on stweart downing and andy carroll, then you've wasted a lot of money. is that fsg's fault? after everyone begged them to give kenny the job, and it seemed like the right thing to do?

fair play to them for making a change to try and rectify their mistake, but the previous regime wasted tens of millions of pounds. that's the real problem here.

Don't get me wrong, they pandered to the fans by appointing Kenny which in hindsight wasn't their greatest decision and you generally think they have there hearts in the right place so I'm not going to level any blame at them for that one. Yes they backed Kenny over 3 transfer windows with £100m. You also can't ignore though that £100m was offset by player sales therefore their investment in the playing side has only been £35m.
I make no apologies, this is me

so what? if we had only spent 35m in that time period, that would be one thing, but that's not what happened. we didn't even finance those deals by selling our best players. most of what we sold was the **** that couldn't get into the team anyway, plus torres who asked to leave. they didn't gut the team, they culled the **** we had hanging from our neck.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I don't believe that for a second. They are successful business men, I think it was a calculated gamble that didn't pay off. Kenny was the cheapest option available and was doing well, so it was well worth a punt. Letting Kenny go and appointing their own man was no guarantee of success either, so I can see why they did from a business point of view.

it's because we only invest 12 million a year in them.

Peter Storrie and 'Arry Redknapp and Vladimir Antonov and those useless t*ssp*ts at the FA are to blame.

when 'arry sells a car they have to replace the windows in it and also the electric mechanism to raise and lower them, so i've heard. they get too much wear and tear.

Yup it was a gamble, but there were other alternatives out there at the time. Forgetting the emotional attachment to Kenny, he wouldn't have been the first choice target. They were in a no-win situation to be fair, but I don't agree it was calculated.

I definitely think the pros heavily outweighed the cons though and pleasing most fans was merely an added bonus.

Maybe the original appointment was influenced more by fan reactions (although if true they should have got rid of Hodgson much sooner), but I do think the permanent contract was a business decision and probably the right one at the time.

It was probably the only realistic appointment if they truly were in for the long haul. I say this because if they had appointed anyone else and that person had achieved the same results as Kenny, can you imagine the stick they would have got from every fan for NOT appointing Kenny?

They were on a hiding to nothing if they ignored the clamour for him. IMHO it was a gamble well worth taking. If Kenny had succeeded they would be seen as saviours. In the current situation they can now appoint 'their' man with no background grumblings from the fans that they should have brought Kenny in.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"

Tbh i think we're still in the same position, in that BR has to succeed, otherwise fans will be saying they sacked Dalglish too soon.
