We should not even considering strengthening one of our rivals like this, no matter what the fee. Oh, hang on, maybe we don't see City as rivals anymore....

As has been said, if FSG are going down this road of selling our best players ala Arsenal, they can expect a backlash from the fans. We have been very welcoming and understanding, but if they are turning us into a selling club I want them out asap.

Massively underwhelmed by the whole FSG era so far. Agent Broughton done those Chavs a great job.

can't really blame them for the incompetence of the managers in that time. some weren't their men, and they've backed kenny in the market. kenny failed, but they dealt with that as well. i can't imagine they are giving any specific transfer instructions apart from "make sure we are getting what we pay for."

flip side of the coin though - hasnt done the arse any great problem selling their best players. granted they havent kicked on to become a force again but theyve not gone backwards either. they're the happy medium where they seem to stay consistantly "above average" in terms of league placement/performance.....fabregas, nasri, adebayor, clichy, toure all out in last 3(?) years and replaced by "lesser" players in arteta, bennayoun, gervinho, santos, koscielny.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Yes but we replaced our players with much lower quality players than Arsenal. We bought below average!

Really? You don't think it's caused Arsenal problems?

They've gone from winning trophies and the league between the late 1990's and mid 2000's, to becoming a team that's nowhere near winning the league. Coincidently this happened around the time of selling their better players and replacing them with inferior ones.

We've replaced our better players with inferior ones and we're suffering because of it. If you sell good players and replace them with **** then you'll end up a worse team.

                Unbelievable comment..

We haven't sold anyone yet FFS.. It's not as if they haven't given LFC cash to spend...

Liverpool FC exists to win trophies. I want the league title so bad, so so bad that it actualy physically hurts me when I think about it.....and we are moving further away from that possibility by selling our best players. Before long the whole aura the club has could be gone. We need to have a successful team, it is a given.

i was using them as a sort of recent example. last 3-4 years they have sold a variety of players that at the time were considered their untouchables like we do with agger etc... and replaced with inferior players. however, since they became known as a selling team they've consistantly finished top 3 / top 4 and made a cup final. it can be done (selling top players and not making that big a difference) and god forbid if we do sell agger (again which i hope we dont) there is absoloutely no concrete foundation or evidence to say we wouldnt replace with "inferior" players and still improve on 8th place.

i love agger, i love gerard, i love suarez ..... but most of all i love lfc. these players that we consider to be our best players have won us a carling cup and have finished out of top 4 for 3 seasons. yes it has a lot to do with the managers, owners etc... but again if we sell these players and replace them who is to say it wont work out for the best?

If we have any aspirations to get back to top 4 we cannot sell any of our best players and that includes Agger.

                        He is not for sale.

If we do sell him to raise money to buy players that we want then I have some serious concerns going forward.

Its not because of those guys. Its cus of the ****e like Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Konchesky, Joe Cole etc.

Its the bad transfer policy that has left us outside of the top 4. Poor squad depth and relying on average players to get us results.

Im sick to death of teams passing us bye and everything this club was built for being pissed up the wall. Shankly would be turning in his grave if he could see the state the team is in and who we are playing second fiddle too in the league. Everton finished above us FFS and we only had 52 points. Contrast that to the 86 points we won under rafa.

Yeah but mate, Arsenal were winning trophies. They then started selling their better players and replacing them with lesser players, they slipped down the table and now can't compete for anything.

Chelsea and City have kept their best players, signed good players and they're in with a shout with winning any competition they enter. I really don't think we should be aspiring to be like Arsenal and becoming a feeder club for the bigger boys.

hopefully we will be back on track, cut out the dead wood, and this year we will stabilise, and next year we will push on.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
