Look at the replay, a little run one way, a little run the other and agger was nowhere near him when the ball arrived. Sure, it was decent movement but it should take more than that to shake off a CB so convincingly.

Agger is top class don't get me wrong but didn't think him,Johnson or Wisdom played well at all today at the back. Although Wisdom should have closed down the cross it was very poor marking from Agger. Skrtel was brilliant today.

He made one outstanding goal saving block in the 1st half. Wisdom stopped us conceding when Pepe got injured too. Don't think any of the back 5 had a mare. Agger has played better, but he wasn't bad.

No, he wasn't that bad, but should have done better for their first.

I think pepe had it covered for the block

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has offered former club Brondby a helping hand by turning down a payment which he was due to receive from the cash-strapped Danish side.

Agger joined Liverpool from Brondby in 2006 and, last September, his former side were ordered to pay a lump sum to all current and former players as a result of the club choosing not to pay supplementary holiday pay, pensions as well as other benefits since 2004.

Brondby have suffered a decline both financially and on the pitch in recent years and Agger hopes that his gesture can help them out.

"I am not going to claim any money from the club. The club is in trouble and needs help. And I want to help. I hope a lot of other people are interested in helping too," he told Ekstra Bladet.

"Brondby are an important club, not just in football, but also for a lot of people in the local community. It is a huge organisation with a huge network. You can tell by the amount of people showing up to the games. They are a huge deal in all of Denmark."

However, although Agger hopes other players will follow his lead in waiving the fee, he says that he will not look down on anyone who chooses to accept the money owed.

He added: "They are fully entitled to their money. But, I hope a lot of players will review their decision to claim this money. It won't be good for anyone if Brondby are not to be found in the best Danish division."

Nice gesture - but there will be 50 players who won't have the luxury to make that choice, for every Agger.

Classy gesture...puts what players like Tal Ben Haim did at Portsmouth into perspective.

But does it though? Ben Haim was employed by Portsmouth and not another club, so that was his sole source of income. It is a different case with Agger and Brondby because he is earning big wages with Liverpool so can afford to make this kind gesture to Brondby.

I am sure Ben Haim looked at leaving Portsmouth and could have made it easier for the club by accepting a (significant) pay cut to play elsewhere, but to villainise him for the mess Portsmouth got themselves in is unfair IMO.

Plus Brøndby is Agger'ss childhood club, a club he has a lot of heart for, and the money he is entitled to is close to neligble compared to what he earns today (less than he makes in a week here!). Being a youngster in Danish football does not pay very well. Ben Haim's situation is completely different, and he shouldn't cary the blame for what an incompetent board did to Portsmouth.
