Liverpool youngster Dani Pacheco is attracting a host of interest from a number of La Liga clubs according to the Times.
The 19-year-old continues to play a marginal role at Anfield despite signing a new four-year contract on the back of his prolific showing at the European Under-19 Championship last summer, and according to the aforementioned report, Espanyol and Malaga amongst others are plotting a January swoop for the precocious young Spaniard.
Speculation in Spain suggests Pacheco is growing increasingly frustrated by his lack of first-team football under Roy Hodgson, having not featured for the club since their elimination from the Carling Cup at the hands of Northampton Town back in September.
The player is believed to be highly rated by certain members of Liverpool’s coaching staff, but when pressed on his claims for further opportunities, Roy Hodgson suggested the forward had plenty to do to in order to cement a more prominent role at the club.
The Liverpool manager told the Times: “He’s had moments when he’s looked good, others when not quite so,
“He’s working on his game. He featured in that unfortunate Northampton game. It was a great opportunity for those outside the first 13 or 14 to really show me, ‘You should be thinking of me.’
“When will he get a chance again? Probably in one of these games in Europe and who knows, maybe he will burst back on to the scene, but it’s very difficult to do that in a reserve game.”
Along with Malaga and fourth placed Espanyol, Real Sociedad are also rumoured to be keen on signing the player either on loan or permanently in January.

Exactly the same quotes - just a different headline and media spin depending on what the "journalist" wants to write.

Either way you look at it, these comments are fairly depressing for any reserve team players at the club - "You get one chance (at best), fail and you're out. Oh, and dont bother trying hard in a reserve game, that wont do you any good either"

I'm sorry but Hodgson is a CUNT of the highest order. Not specifically for these quotes but just in general. I hate him more each day and he's ruining my love for Liverpool FC.

Please NES-V just sack the old dodderer.

This is a ****ing disgrace. Our best young talent (apart from Suso) and neither Benitez nor Hodgson were/are prepared to give him enough game time. Makes me sick. Just ****ing play him you tossers

Another player put down in public. ****ing hell, where on earth has this "nice man" rep come from? He's an absolute cunt of a man.

He's digging his own grave though which is great.

In a game like the Northampton game it isn't easy for players to shine, and we don't get to see what they can really do. I think this is the wrong way to let the youngsters have "their chance". When you play in a team full of reserves you aren't like to be able to show what you can really do. Unless we give these youngsters a chance one at a time in a team full of first-teamers, I think we'll sadly see very few of them make it. Give them games when the rest of the team is at normal strength, this is the way to do it.

Iv said it a million times and i'll say it again, young guys like Pacheco can't step up a level until they are playing alongside better players than them. That how he will learn, game time with the best players

I don't get why Pacheco is expected to be a world beater at 19???
What exactly does Hodgson expect? I think most fans would have expected Pacheco to start maybe 5-10 games this season mostly Europa and Carling Cup matches and feature in 15-30 total.

Personally I wouldn't expect Pacheco to be consistent until he was 22/23

Ok, so 2 managers, having had almost daily contact and/or updates with/about the player think he isn't good enough to play at the top level as things stand but it makes you sick. I think we are eager for such players to step up without enough knowledge. Certainly not enough to start calling the mangers cunts. Well people call Roy a cunt for it, and kind of ignore Rafa's refusal to promote youngsters (because they love him)

They learn from 10 games against **** opposition rather than training with them every day of the week?

Roy is an idiot. He doesn't think at all before he speaks to media. Jewel after jewel... Pacheco is a real talent and should have been given plenty of opportunities to play this year and yet he barely was featured on the bench.

Another sign that Roy should never been appointed and that he has no ability to spot a talent even when he is looking at one.

He should keep his mouth closed while he is here and don't make any statements to the press as anything he comments on causes irreparable or long term damage.
