Carragher faces three months out injured

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher faces up to three months out after dislocating his shoulder.

The 32-year-old picked up the injury in Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Tottenham at White Hart Lane, his 450th Premier League appearance for Liverpool.

"It'll probably be late February or early March when I look to come back," Carragher told the club website.

"The average is about 12 weeks. I'd like to come back before that but I've got to make sure it's right."

Carragher added: "It's difficult for me when I'm injured. It hasn't happened very often, and I'm very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it's caught up with me a little bit now.

"I've been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time. It's not easy but you've got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back.

"I'm sure towards the end of the season when people are maybe feeling a little bit tired I'll be raring to go."

The loss of Carragher is in addition to Steven Gerrard's absence with a hamstring injury, picked up during England's 2-1 friendly loss to France on 17 November.

The midfielder is expected to be out for between three and four weeks.
Greek centre-back Sotirios Kyrgiakos, who retired from international football in August, came on for Carragher in north London for his sixth league appearance of the season.

He is likely to deputise in Carragher's absence with Martin Kelly, who impressed at right-back in the 2-0 win over Chelsea earlier this season, another option for Hodgson.
    Oh I don't know.

Curious to see how we will do without him, strangely i'm not too bothered about his absence although we'll miss his organizational ability but wish him best in recovery.

It did occur to me that it could be a blessing in disguise.

This season is another write off then

I've been a bit of a critic of Carragher over the last year or so, but with the other options we've got at CB I think we will stuggle without him.

I think a CB needs to be high on the list of priorities for January now.

Hate to see any player injured but this will be a great opportunity to see Agger in his natural position. It will be very interesting to see pairing Skrtel/Agger which we haven't seen too much in the past.

losing carragher isnt a huge blow.

Soto has been great this season when he has stepped in and lets face it......in Soto/Skrtel and Carra are all high quality cloggers and at least we will be more dangerous with set pieces

Unfortunately we don't know when Agger is going to be back from injury himself.

I thought I read it somewhere that he should be back shortly.

                      Daniel Agger
Injury Date:19 Oct 2010; Injury: Calf; Expected Return: -; Last Updated: 18 Nov.
Daniel has not featured since September 25 due to sickness and a calf problem. Dr Peter Brukner reported on November 18, it is likely to be three or four weeks before he can return to action.

Time for Wilson and Kelly to step up.

Anyone know how Ayala is getting on at Hull?
                        We come not to play.

It's a shame for Carragher as he really wants to play, I imagine it'll be really frustrating for him. It's now time for someone to stand up and take on the responsibility of organising the defence hopefully Skrtel or Agger (when he's back) as you would imagine they will be taking over when Carragher is no longer around.

I'd be disappointed if we decided we need to buy another centre back as I feel this is one of the areas of the team where we have the most cover. I would imagine Skrtel and Kyriakos will be first choice for the time being, when Agger comes back he'll compete with them, and there's also opportunities for Kelly and Wilson.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He won't be missed. We've got plenty of cover and Carragher's more a liability than anything else these days
