Totally agree, while he has always been in a state of development, I wouldn't have pictured him pulling out performances like the ones he has been recently. 18 months ago I would have been cursing at the lad, while I was never part of the party wanting to see him go I could completely understand their frustrations from time to time. He's a good player who's come a long way, I'm happy he's played the amount of games he has done for us, the experienced gained has been key. Hopefully his run will continue and only improve.

On Lucas, I'd have been happy had we sold him in the summer (on condition we brought someone in better), but now I'd be pretty pissed off if we did let him go.

My opinion is we flog Poulsen and sign another quality central midfielder and create some real competition in there.

Here's a question:

Say we signed Benzema (I know, unlikely) or another top class forward in January, who would you play in the team? Likely Torres and Benzema up top. Where would you then play Gerrard/Lucas /Meireles?

Meireles and Lucas arguably our best two performers in recent games, Gerrard without doubt our best player.

If that happened, Gerrard goes to the right side of midfield. Easy solution.
