Probably ****ed off home at half time cos we were losing.Ask Stevie if he feels he contributed more to those successes.Still since we are calling people gob****es when we don't know them or if anything they are alleged to have done actually happened in the real world then I have to say you really are a bitter gob****e.Counting the days to your inevitable ban

And what the **** is hughest?
We wouldn't have needed extra time if Superman Carragher had stopped us from going 3 - 0 down! The only reason we were still in it at the point was down to the interventions of Gerrard, Smicer and Alonso, and a wonder save from Dudek. And then in the shootout, the players that actually had the bottle to take the pens, and of course Dudek for saving them. And not forgetting Traore's goal-line clearance.

Even in the run up to the final, we had key interventions from the likes of Mellor, Pongolle, Garcia and Carson that enabled us to get to the final in the first place; this notion that Superman Carragher somehow took the team on his back and delivered the Cup single-handedly is utterly ridiculous.

And, if you care to look, 'gob****e' is part of one of the options in the poll, which incidently, at the time of writing, over a quarter of respondants have voted for.

        Memory issues here, i fear.

Carragher made countless blocks in that final, to help us to victory. Not to mention in the semi final against Chelsea, where he put his body on the line, time and time again.

No genuine Liverpool fan could discount his contributions so easily, unless they have a personal agenda.

Its one of the stand-out images of extra time in Istanbul, Carra crippled with cramp, the corner coming in, him stretching to clear and then doing the same thing again a few seconds later.

He's been crap for a while now, but for a couple of years, he was a top player and an inspiration to have in the team.

My point is, lots of players made key interventions during the run and are all responsible for the ultimate success. To single out Carragher alone and attiribute the eventual victory to some superhuman effort is ridiculous.

Gerry Byrne playing with a broken collar bone is a superhuman effort, not running off a bit of cramp or blocking shots. The only personal agenda I see is from those trying to big up the contribution of Carragher by diminishing the contribution of the other players.

Keep him as a squad player. If he doesn't like it - tough

Nah, he's past his best and should gracefully bow out from being first choice for the first team a la Hyypia, but you shouldn't write off the good stuff.

Nobody's 'singling out' Carragher, but it's a Carragher thread FFS, obviously he is going to be the focus.

Nobody's diminishing the contribution of other players - do you notice how those people defending Carragher, are mentioning Carragher, and not other players??

                  "diminishing other players" indeed

Carragher is not the 'winner' a lot of people make him out to be, as he is just as happy to be in the team mindlessly hoofing the ball whether we are midtable, fighting relegation or challenging for the title (not that he would know much about that).
So you say he's a gob****e because of the text. Yet when challenged as to why you think it was him you say it's likely to be him because he's a gob****e.

                      Ever heard of circular logic?

So defenders deserve no part in a teams success then

When I look at teams from the past the likes of Hansen,Smith,Yeats etc are every bit as much legends as Rush and Dalglish.

You win nothing with poor defenders.

You say Carra was at fault for us being 3 down yet you say nothing about Hyypia who you praised earlier yet he was there too.And what about Dudek who failed to keep those goals out yet made a superb double save in extra time not to mention the penalty shoot out.

To disregard Carra's contribution to our success because of goals conceded is I'm simplistic nonsense

Ignoring his age and focusing on his performances. Put up a side by side comparison of all the recent games kelly and carragher have played, abd in each of those games mark up how often they stopped a defender, how often their balls found all iverpool player, and how many mistakes each made. I'm sorry but right now Kelly is doing better. To say otherwise is blindness.

What you say makes a lot of sense - so obviously it has no place in this thread! The Thought Police will hunt you down.
