We don't have anyone better than him currently, and that is depressing. An ageing centre back, poor first touch with no pace and still the best we have.
The list of priorities for this squad keep growing, and shows just how bad the Hicks and Gillett years have been to the squad through lack of investment.

Getting rid would mean getting a replacement, and there are a good few out there.Originally posted by Daniel Torres View PostWe don't have anyone better than him currently, and that is depressing. An ageing centre back, poor first touch with no pace and still the best we have.

We wouldn't be able to sell him until the transfer window and we could get a replacement straight away, don't see a problem???Originally posted by Daniel Torres View PostOh definitely, but the point Craig's making is we don't have anyone better at present - which is spot on.
Cahill would be a better bet for a signing to replace. Kelly may well be a long termer, bu he's still not at Carragher's current standard.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

It was just as ridiculous when people thought he was as good as Terry and Ferdinand a few years ago (he was very good, but not at their level) as it is now when people label him as not good enough for us. Really? Not good enough?
Carragher is our best and most consistent defender, granted that doesn't say much these days, but when you consider that Skrtel can't head the ball and should go through a CT scan to confirm whether he has a brain, Kyrgiakos turns slower than the titanic and Agger is permacrocked, to suggest that we need to get rid of Carra... what the ****? Really?

Coming from someone who takes as gospel anything on Facebook and Twitter you have at least given me a chuckle this morning.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYeah, we did so well defensively without him at Newcastle.
It's entertaining for the barometer of bull**** to be talking about how wrong statements can be. You should certainly know.
You should introduce similar levity on here every day after you finish your paper round

That's a risk you take with any signing, fortunately we have players who can do a job and help the new guy settle in. Besides, the team will never be settled as long as Carra is around. Rather have the defender settling problem than have the problem of replacing Torres.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHow do we know for sure that the replacement is going to settle and adjust?Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Carragher would be the last defender I get rid of in this squad to clear the way for a new signing. Unfortunately nobody would buy him.Originally posted by Arn View PostThat is up to them.
I would myself sell him because IMO he isn't good enough but that is my opinion.
If Carra was benched then he would probably leave the club so it is more or less the same thing. Can you imagine how much he would moan after three four weeks on the bench? IF he had a hand in sacking Rafa then he would probably do the same if a manager benched him.
If you think that way then benching him isn't an option. Either you play him or sell him.
He hasn't got any of the attributes required of a top centre-back these days. He's slow, average in the air, prone to making rash tackles leading to penalties, scores own goals with alarming regularity and has the ball control of Carlton Palmer. Trying hard - the very least I'd expect for £90K a week - simply isn't enough of a reason to persevere with him. He's had his day and now he should be no more than a bench-warmer, given that we're stuck with him. Anyway I'm pretty sure that'll be his fate when we get a proper manager in
