                  These days, people just use 'The Liverpool Way' argument to suit their agenda, and are happy to drop (or at least suspend) it when it becomes inconvenient to their point of view.

                            I agree. The trouble is 'The Liverpool Way' is an indefinable, or at least undefined, concept, hence infinitely elastic to twist to fit with whatever you want.

                            It also seems to be used as a stick to beat people who disagree with you - sadly, it's used to disparage others as "not proper Liverpool fans", usually, I imagine, by people who really are old enough to know better.
