LIVERPOOL FC defender Glen Johnson today became embroiled in a row with TV football pundit Paul Merson.

The England right back hit out on his Twitter account after the former Arsenal midfielder questioned his 'attitude' during his recent performances for the Reds.

Writing online, Johnson said: "Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to judge players, he was average at the best of times."

Absolutely fellas. I want to also add that I don't go into work and start slagging off others in my profession, people I have no connection to. I'd get the sack. But in the Murdoch empire of The S*N, Fox, Sky etc. it's encouraged. It's encouraged to behave a dick towards sections of fans/other employers (players/managers), it's a disgrace. Nothing we can do about it and I don't really give a **** about them. But they're paid fantastic money to do so and it's obviously a ploy by Sky to employ controversial characters 'to spice up the place', and I don't blame them. It gets their paying subscribers riled up. There is no such thing as bad publicity. Controversy creates debate and attention etc. just like Talksport etc.

But I still don't agree with it. I think there are characters in the industry that don't deserve an ounce of respect and should not be paid 50+ grand a year, turning up for a few hours a week to be complete arseholes. People I wouldn't give the time of day for 2 minutes in public, yet they're on there spouting their wank attitude to millions of people. And millions of people means there will be a high percentage of gullible, stupid fans and viewers who simply can't make up their own mind - because they're so infested by the media and the whole shower of ****es, THOSE are the opinions they base theirs on - even our own supporters who can't help themselves! And that's why I get angry and don't ****ing agree with it. This doesn't just concern football, this concerns all walks in life and it saddens me to see so much media-formed reality in society nowadays and the more cunts like Merson get air-time, the more they should be prepared when there are actually people out there with half a brain countering their opinions.
