I've just realised, didn't Southampton's boss say he wanted us in the next round and then lo and behold he get's drawn against the winners of our game

Because of course, that's what they're trying to do. Get a good old dangle in to distract the striker. In reality, their playing for the ball and tackles in the box that don't involve a defender going to ground start the same way.

overall though we do lack genuine pace and quality all over the pitch. i do think that we need quite some high quality signings over the next two windows to challenge for honours.

we do lack pace something awful. Well Comolli,Kenny and the scouting department will seriously have to be on their game in this transfer window.

Suspicious? Nah just a coincidence, a bit like the coincidence that a Leicester City fan and a Man City fan managed to pull out their teams to play each other in the round of the cup that they are drawing the teams out of the hat.

Oh and they manage to pull out the biggest game of the competition in the third round to make sure there is interest in the Cup seeing as most Premiership teams and managers treat it with contempt these days.

Apart from Miereles I thought the whole team played well. That was our best first eleven and the substitutions were inspired. We were cheated, but we are back. Dalglish won't muck about, the players will be up for the fight in every game until the end of the season or they'll be out of the team no matter who they are.
