Meireles bottled it more than once, which you can't do in Derby games. Needs to man up more. But yes, he does need time. I think overall he's been positive this season. Liverpool could probably do with buying another CM to replace Poulsen and letting Lucas, Meireles and the new guy fight it out for the starting spots with players like Spearing and Shelvey in reserve.Originally posted by Armchairkopite View PostMeireles, I've defended him already, it did look like Rafael was going in to snap his ankle.
Also its his first season in this league, big difference between here and Portugal lets give him the benefit of the doubt here.
Meireles is also one of our best ball players, although today he was off the pace again I wouldn't come down on any player at the moment its a fresh start for everyone and they will alll need a little time to readjust.
The last thing we want now is scape goats, Kenny will make the right decisions.Forwards.......

He wasn't great, but the changes aren't going to come over night. What was positive was that he busted a gut and came of the pitch knackered. If he had been wandering around like he couldn't be bothered, then I would be concerned.Originally posted by Francis8 View PostI thought he was pretty poor again today, short on confidence and poor first touch, even when we had 11 he didnt offer a great deal IMOForwards.......

The heart and passion is back
We are playing attacking football again
Another point is that if someone offered us £15m or so for Johnson then we should sell him. Kelly is good enough to play right back week in week out. Use the £15m and sign a top quality attacking player.
The Academy is starting to produce players for the STARTING XI
First Insua and now Kelly.
Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

You need to wise up more. Merieles went off injured recently with a severly bruised injured ankle. He was probably playing with some pain. It is obvious that he is going to pull out of hard tackles, especially two footed tackles

I thought it was pretty positive on the whole. Liverpool looked like a team with purpose again. We pressed and passed from the back, and it was great to see Agger carry the ball out of defence. Couple of shaky passes from Skrtel though, clear to see why he was ahead of Agger in Roy's eyes.
Torres is going to take some effort, he is a shadow of what he was.
Gerrard needs to be further forward, sending off and getting caught out going backwards just before the sending off proves that. See also the above about Torres.
Maxi looked ok further forward, nice touches and flicks.
Kelly - brilliant. What a boy, he never looks ruffled. Sign of a good player. Give him RB and try Johnson further forward.
Lucas - winning us all over. Carried Meireles who was gash.
Howard Webb - **** off you ****ing arse-licking ****er. You're a corrupt Scumn supporting **** and should be struck off and sent to ref the blue ****ing Square.

he's bottled it on other matches too by pulling out of making big tackles.Originally posted by Assassin View PostYou need to wise up more. He's 27 years old, an experienced international. If he doesnt have the stomach for a fight now he's not going to learn it in the next year or so.
I cant see him being here next season because he's not good enough to play the playmaking role in midfield.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

He didn't have a bruised ankle against Everton when he pulled out of challenges. And not all the ones he pulled out of today were two footed. Pain or not he should roll his sleeves up and get on with it. If he was at risk of further injury he wouldn't be on the pitch, especially with the new medical team.Originally posted by Assassin View PostYou need to wise up more. I think he deserves a chance in a system that's more suited to his talents. He's played RM under Woy, ffs.Originally posted by el matador View Posthe's bottled it on other matches too by pulling out of making big tackles.

Alonso wasn't a big tackler either, he was accused of "bottling" it on occasion as well.
I reckon Meireles will be fine given a chance.
