Thought these new Aussie lot where top class? What i did hate when Hodgson was in charge was he siding with the sports science people all the time over Torres. Think sometimes he just needed to be thrown in, Joe Cole the same. Hes hardly played ****all in 12mths?

I just DO think kneejerk reactions are silly. Surely i can think this without it meaning i am 'looking for a battle' ? I think you're being a bit paranoid mate.
i have zero interest in arguments on here from now on in, all on same side.

Would it really surprise you if any sense of bottle or fight had simply been evaoporated away by you know who?

Well I thought it was better, we tried to play, we tried to pass but the missing confidence isn't going to return over night.
I'd have played Kelly at LB and Johnson RB but it was clearly a side picked with tiredness after Man U and Everton coming up in mind.

Biggest problem for us attacking wise was Kuyt and Meireles NOT playing the extra pass wide to Kelly, they could have rolled him in for shots and crosses but chose to come back inside and shoot or try a more difficult pass.

We over complicated it a lot and if anything tried too hard in the final third, we (I) knew we wouldn't turn into world beaters overnight but at least we are trying to attack, press high up and pass the ball now.
100% support to the end of the season and we will pull through and improve drastically

That sums it up IMO. We played better and looked more like winning TONIGHT, than we did at Bolton, where we actually DID win.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish wants his players to have more belief in their ability following the defeat at Blackpool.

The Tangerines made it a Premier League double over the Reds thanks to a 2-1 triumph at Bloomfield Road, although Fernando Torres had given the away side an early lead.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher and DJ Campbell turned the tie on its head, and Liverpool slumped to another disappointing result.

Dalglish praised the effort and commitment of his players after the full-time whistle, but wants more confidence in the ranks.

"You can see that their effort and commitment, desire and pride is there from all of them," he told Sky Sports.

"Sometimes it doesn't matter how good a player you are, if you don't have the belief in yourself then it's not going to be helpful towards you.

"We've got to work hard and we'll give them a little bit of belief and confidence.

"They have been really encouraging, the way they've gone about their work.

"I think the players here are very good players but they just have to believe in what they're doing and believe in themselves more."

On the game itself, Dalglish remarked: "We passed it well up to a point, the final pass that we made wasn't as good as the boys are capable of.
              Confidence

"We'll work away and try to develop that - give them the confidence they need to produce more positive results.

"Certainly their first goal we were a good touch and a pass away from running the ball into the back of the net. And the second one was a corner that's come back in and we've not been concentrating.

"We should have been picking up better than we were. There's a lot of things that we'd like to work on."

It is unknown if Dalglish will have the chance to make changes to his squad in the January transfer window and he admits he has not yet spoken to the club's owners about possible comings and goings.

"I'm sure they'll improve but whether there's going to be any players coming in or moving around I don't know," he added.

"I can always make a request, it might not always be accepted. I've never breached the subject with money being available with the owners.

"If there is the possibility of brining somebody in we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

"At the moment I've not asked for anybody and I've not enquired for finances."

dissapointing but then two training sessions and a different way of playing.

a few thoughts. IF it was roy who had picked that team and we had played like that we would have all said not good enough he has to go. Kenny has time, however we do need to see improvements. we are pressing higher up which is good and torres looked better by all accounts. Now isnt the time to judge him but we do need points to gather some confidence and hopefully that will come.

Some say that we are a top 4 squad and i dont see it. Rafa didnt manage it, Roy could never manage it with anyone but remember Rafa said we needed 4 players and i am guessing he didnt mean Jova (yes he bought him but i think squad player not someone to move the team on) Cole, Poulsen, PFK nor RM.

i am not sure the current squad overall is good enough. So we need to rebuild. I think Pepe is a must after that i suppose its up to the manager be it Kenny or someone new next season and whether the players want to stay through a rebuilding phase.

I have worries about Agger and Aurellio as they wont be fit enough over a season. Also what youngsters have we got. Of course a few wins and a return to style and this looks like a knee jerk post. It is based however on what has happened for the past 18 months.

A long road ahead i think.

I said the same a few months ago. I asked if you believe that we have the bottle and leadership for a relegation fight.

I don't think we have that. We have bottled it since Hyypia and Xabi left.

It's very much about leadership. Do we have a great leader in the team? I would say no. No one that you can point at and say, he is our leader, he is our Captain.

We need to sort that out as soon as possible. Maybe sign up an older player that would add that. Like we did when we signed McAllister. Maybe he will only be here a couple of years but he would add the leadership we don't have.

Kenny Dalglish believes the problems which led to Liverpool's 2-1 defeat at Blackpool are all solvable on the training ground.

The Reds lost 2-1 after goals from boyhood Kopite Gary Taylor-Fletcher and DJ Campbell cancelled out a superb third-minute strike from Fernando Torres.

Reflecting on the game with journalists afterwards, Dalglish said: "I'm obviously disappointed that we've come away with no points after a good start. There were a couple of good passes and then Fernando got in and finished it really well.

"For their first goal we were on the edge of breaking clear and we mis-placed a pass. To be fair the lad put it away really well. The second goal, we cleared the corner quite sufficiently and it's come back in but there was no picking up.

"There are a couple of things there that we can sort out. Obviously if the problems lie within yourself you've got a chance of sorting them. If the problems come because another team is so much better than you then you can't solve it.

"It's a big challenge but it's seldom you walk into a job without big challenges. The encouraging sign for me is the attitude of the players.

"We'll work in our own way now. It was very pleasing to see the players' commitment and effort, especially when you consider what a lot of them went through on Sunday with us being down to 10 men for an hour. It was great credit to them.

"We have some good positives from this game but the thing that will help the players most is to pick up some wins.

"Every football side that's ever done anything needed a bit of luck and maybe at the moment that's just turned against us a wee bit.

"The harder we try, the luckier we'll get, and we are trying very hard to turn our luck."

Liverpool had a decent claim for a penalty turned down in the second half following an apparent handball in the Blackpool box.

But Dalglish said: "I'd better just plead the fifth amendment."

The Scot has now endured straight defeats since his dramatic return to football management at the weekend, the Blackpool result following a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

The caretaker boss added: "There are mitigating circumstances. Obviously Sunday there was a penalty in the first minute and we got our captain sent off after 30. That wasn't too fortuitous.

"Here, we were in a good position and (for their first goal) if we'd just laid the pass off it would have been up our end of the pitch and we could have knocked it in for 2-0. Then it'd have been a different game.

"If you ask what the turning point of the game was then that would have been it,"

Meanwhile, asked where the result ranked among Blackpool's many impressive scorelines this term, Seasiders boss Ian Holloway said: "Best of the lot, I think. To go behind and then come back like that.

"If you'd have told me we'd take six points off Liverpool this season I'd say you were completely doolally. I'd have told you to get in that straight jacket Harry Houdini got out of."
                    RIP IRWT post/rant, best ever

Could not be more spot on, from the King there. The biggest area of concern is confidence. It'll come. Not in time to save this season sadly, we wont be getting into europe and we wont be getting relegated.

It takes a lot to rebuild from a state of rubble, but the process is just starting now. People need to be patient, it'll come.

For the first fifteen minutes we were excellent, thought we were going to batter Blackpool. They are ****e, but they work hard. They pressurised us and we were panicking on the ball. Meireles and Jovanovic were dreadful, Johnson was terrible, Kuyt was abysmal, Skrtel has lost it. Our team is a mess. Torres was amazing until he allowed his head to drop, Kelly had a solid game and Poulsen played well. We're just not good enough, Blackpool showed us up. I bet their whole squad was assembled for less than half a Glen Johnson. Our players should be ashamed of themselves, they're just not arsed. Jovanovic was unbelievably negative, does my head in. Kenny's got his work cut out.

Kenny's last statement is interesting, IMO it signals that he doesn't want to do anything hasty and not thought through. He want's to work with the squad and build up confidence again in them.

Kenny only been here 5 days, so he needs time to settle and time to find his team.

Really hope that fans will be patient this time, and accept that results does not come overnight. I believe that Kenny can very well be the man to give stability and install calmness around the club again, as it will take longer before (most) fans will start attacking him.
