I think his first training session with the "regulars" was on Tuesday! Saturday nite he was in Dubai?? The game was on Sunday, the players who played in that game didn't go in for training on the Monday, only the bench warmers and other non starters. Hes had one full training session with the players, this mornin they wont of done anything that heavy with the game in mind tonight.

Oh and I heard a soundbite today (from said someone at Melwood) that was supposedly from one of the coaching staff after watching a rerun of a Hodgson style training session

"Lets rip it all up and start from scratch"

From what I am hearing there isnt one thing in terms of tactics and training that they will keep from the Hodgson era

I never said he could man, i'm just giving my opinion on tonight's match and overall i thought it was another really poor Liverpool performance.

Never thought we'd get near to that but I still believe top 6 or 7 is possible

Heads went down afte their 2nd goal but before that passion, commitment, desire and pressing was ok

We lack quality no doubt about that but the VAST bulk of this relates back to Roy more than anything

For some weeks I've argued that Roy needed to go before his tactics and methods became ingrained in the fabric of the club

Sadly I think some of the problems are already ground into the carpet and its going to take awhile for ANY coach/manager to change that
Why not share it with us then?

Kenny only met the players at 10.30 am on Sunday morning (according to LFC weekly)

First training session was a review of what they had been doing under Roy with the players not involved at Old Trafford. Session was supposedly halted and they stated ballwork training

            That continued yesterday

                Good man

I see Arsenal could be offloading Andrei Arshavin, would anyone take a punt on him?

I know he's lost his way this season but the quality's not in question.

The following need to be sacked off:

                  Skrtel
                  Johnson
                  Meireles

                  Jovanovic

                  And Kuyt was appalling tonight.
Agreed, plus a few more IMO

I personally think that Dalglish has a fair idea who he wants out and their replacements

I do hope this was not a test run as to how we will set-up against Everton. I was far happier with the twitter rumoured line-up. Jova, Kuyt, Raul and Poulson in Midfield

                        Wouldn't think it tbh.

The likes of Aurelio, Maxi and Cole - if he's fit will all be in contention for starting on Sunday, maybe even Babel too.

A bunch of pansies our team. Get in our faces and pass and move around us. Where too slow to catch upto the opposition and too slow to attack. We lack steel and piss poor at the basics. Players attitudes stink.

Now that I've got that off my chest. Yeah I agree Rudo. Can't wait for the derby.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - please everyone try to take a clear headed rational view about what's happening at the club. It's far better than the tiresome scapegoating, player and manager hating rants that are becoming the norm on here.

Anyone who can't see the improvement in the way we are playing, in terms of our tactical approach, and level of ambition, in the last couple of games under Kenny really doesn't deserve to call themselves a football fan. In both games our tactics have been transformed. We are playing a much higher defensive line, trying to play football in their half, and are pressing all over the pitch. As a result, we are starting to control games (in patches) again, whereas under Hodgson we were negative and reactive. I'd much rather lose while playing like we did tonight than as we did at home against Wolves.

But, any transformation takes time (as I argued for longer than most under Hodgson). Kenny needs time for the players to start playing the way he wants them to. This might take 5-6 weeks to really start taking shape given the regularity of our fixtures over the next couple of months, and lack of training time in-between. But he needs that time to get his ideas across and surely everyone should recognise this and give a bit of leeway? Does anyone really think we'd be getting better results under Hodgson? To me, there are already signs of a long-term structure being put in place, with shrewd backroom staff appointments, a style of play similar to the academy allowing for greater continuity, and rumours of investment in good young players.

This knee-jerk judgement of players, managers, and even owners recently by a section of our fans does no-one any good. A club needs everyone pulling in the same direction in order to be successful - and that includes owners, directors, manager, coaching staff, players and fans. Hicks and Gillett are 90% to blame for our problems in my opinion, for lack of investment in the squad, and undermining of much of the staff, but lets try and keep our end up as fans at least by giving time and encouragement before slating players and the manager?

And with that I'll head back into my semi-retirement from the site.

anyone ever figure out definitively what system we were playing today? i was surprised to see how everyone in the midfield were taking turns attacking and defending, and thought it might have been sort of 4-3-3? or 4-5-1? then when kuyt went off, we seemed to not have anyone on the right wing. jonjo played quite centrally. as did kuyt sometimes. what the system was it?

if that's what we're going to try to do, i'm not surprised we looked a bit poor. the guys looked similarly out of sorts in the arsenal game when roy's tactics were all new to everyone. more so at city.

i have no problem with this system, it sounds exciting, but our players didn't seem to be able to sort out the nuances with it yet.
