So, What do you really think of our Squad?

Personally I think there are a few players who under normal circumstances would gradually get better as confidence came back but we are not under normal circumstances and they need more than a confidence boost. For me, in these circumstances, I think it would be good for both club and player to have a parting of the ways, players like Skrtel and Kuyt.

I had this argument with my dad yesterday - he was saying not confuse lack of ability with lack of confidence - now whilst i agree some players look shot, and some confidence they would be much players - we have too many that just don't seem to have an technical ability - kuyt and skrtel are up there

And i know i have said this a couple of times but the more I watch us, the more apparent it comes that we are desperate for a centre mid.

Scott Parker and suarez + a pacy winger are much needed right now! - we get those three players in it'd give everyone a boost, it would improve the first team, and we could go on a run of results and get too a more 'respectable' league position

Sort out defence in the summer and next season hopefully be in a position to fight for top 4 again - but it is vital we get something in now and do something with the remainder of the season so that come the summer, potential targets will see that we are improving and moving forward

I don't particularly think that the squad is that much worse than a couple of seasons ago. Obviously we miss Alonso and Mascherano, and I also think the pairing of Arbeloa and and a fit Aurelio is often overlooked, but the fact that Spurs and Man City have pumped so much money into their squads, its magnified the gaps that have been left in the above players absences.

In the short term we need a tough no-nonsense midfield general, a winger who terrifies the opposition and the new Hyypia. This would move us into the safety zone this season.

See i, a bit like dannyman - didn't think was that bad - but they are, and this isn't a knee jerk reaction, this is something that has become more and more evident over the last month or so.

But with constant injuries to agger/aurelio/cole - 3 technical players tha we really miss - it leaves us short and the quality just isnt there to come in - the konk, poulsen and jovanovic are dreadful, ryan babel clueless, skrtel and kuyt are getting worse and worse - we've got two fanny's playing centre mid - there is a lot needed but it is achievable....it just takes some money and some bottle lets just for arguements say we did this

£15m for a left back
£15-20m for a centre back
£10-15m for a battling centre mid
£20m on a pacy winger.

£90m ish round it off too £100m - with players like reina/gerrard/torres already in the squad - a few good youngsters coming through - we'd be good.

granted it isnt as easy as that - but i really do feel that we act soon otherwise the rebuilding process in the summer becomes even harder and we will need £150m to rebuild in the summer - get three of the required players in asap i say

Oh I'd definitely agree with most of that, but in my above post I was just referring to getting us into safety this season. A new manager coming in next season will have his own ideas and no doubt want his own players coming in.

We need way more than 3 players as I suggested, if we want to compete at the top again.
